A/N: Hi! It is the first reaction chapter! Also, the meme above with Tam sums this whole series up.

Bold will be the book

Normal is reactions and outside of reading

Disclaimer: I sadly don't own Keeper of the Lost Cities, that honor is Shannon Messenger's.

"Ok, before we go any further, why are me and Sophie on the cover?", said Dex.

Everyone shrugged, not knowing the answers themselves.

"My guess is that the books are about Sophie and this is when you know what happened."

The adults all had confused expressions and Sophie put her head in her hands blushing.

Biana opened the book and began to read.

Preface

Blurry, fractured memories swam through Sophie's mind

Horrified gasps sounded through the room.

"Ms Foster, by any chance was your mind broken?",Bronte quietly asked.

"No. You'll find out."

All of her friends stared at her with worry, she never went into detail on her side of the kidnapping. They knew she was kidnapped, but so much had happened since that it was forgotten. Linh, Tam, and Ro had no clue what had happened and gave her glances to say What else have you hidden?

, but she couldn't piece them together. She tried opening her eyes and found only darkness. Something rough pressed against her wrists and ankles, refusing to let her move.

The gasps once again sounded along with the looks, but Sophie's eyes were firmly on her wrists.

A wave of cold rushed through her as the horrifying realization dawned.

She was a hostage.

Sophie was now staring at her wrists as if they were the only thing in the universe.

A cloth stifled her cry for help, and a sedative's sweet aroma stung her nose when she inhaled, making her head spin.

Everyone's fists clenched, they were going to make them pay for this.

Were they going to kill her?

Would the Black Swan really destroy their own creation?

What was the point of Project Moonlark then? What was the point of the Everblaze?

Forkle cocked his head at this. He knew he would never hurt her willingly and he felt that it must be their rival. So she is the moonlark. He felt a burst of fatherly pride seeing her there, along with a rush of pure cold terror.  What horrors had befallen his moonlark?

The drug lulled her toward a dreamless oblivion, but she fought back----clinging to the one memory that could shine a tiny spot of light in the thick inky haze. A pair of beautiful aquamarine eyes.

Fitz's eyes.

Fitz's breath caught in his throat and tears sprung to his eyes.

Her first friend in her new life. Her first friend ever.

Many frowned at this, she should have had friends since wasn't she twelve when she met him?

Maybe if she hadn't noticed him that day in the museum, none of this would have happened.

No. She knew it'd been too late even then. The white fire were already burning----curving toward her city and filling the sky with sticky, sweet smoke.

The spark before the blaze.

All eyes turned to Sophie, who had curled up in a ball, wondering, what had happened.

Slowly her head poked up from her little roll, and she with red eyes asked, "Can you please continue? Let's just get it over with, it only gets worse anyway."

The venom and bitterness in her voice worried the other room occupants. But all that echoed in their heads was it only gets worse anyway.

The words echoed especially in the heads of the councilors, how had they failed her to the point where she says that? It couldn't possibly get worse... could it?
