The Date

Thea's pov

I waited in my dorm for Joshua to pick me up for our date. I didn't want to go and I had no intentions of leading him on. I decided that after this I would tell him I'm not interested.

"Why are you going on a date with him? You don't like him."

"Because I felt bad Nysha."

"You can feel bad and still say no."

"I'm going to tell him I'm not interested tonight okay."

"You better." Nysha order.

Soon as our conversation ended we heard a knock on the door. I looked at Nysha with dread. I slowly walked up to the door and opened it.

"Hey Joshua." I said with fake enthusiasm.

"Hello Thea, you look beautiful."

I was wearing a black skin tight dress, and just a little of my cleavage was showing. And I had on my small heels.

"Thanks. Where are we going?" I asked.

"An Italian restaurant."

"Okay, let's go."

As a I closed the door I mouthed "help me" to Nysha. I truly needed help and a drink or two. I'm going to need some vodka to get me through this night.

He led me to his car and he opened the door for me. Then he got in and we set off to the restaurant. I didn't really want to talk during the ride, but Joshua kept trying to make small talk with with me. It's like he couldn't take a hint.

After 30 minutes we finally arrived at the restaurant. We got a table in the back of the restaurant, it was really nice.

"I'm glad you said yes to the date."

"Yeah."

"So how was the first week of college?"

"Umm... it was good. My classes were smooth and my teachers are nice. How was yours?" To be honest I didn't really care about his week, I was just trying to be nice.

"It was good and you made it better when you said yes to our date." Joshua had a smile from ear to ear, you could tell he was excited about this date. I felt bad that I was going to tell him I couldn't do this anymore. "Did you know that your the prettiest girl in our math class."

"Thank you, Joshua."

"Where's the waiter?" I thought.

Few seconds later the waiter asked for our orders. I got Lasagna and he got spaghetti. When she left, Joshua started back with the small talk.

"You know you can call me Josh right, the only people who call me Joshua are my parents."

"Oh... okay... Josh." I was really nervous and I wanted to leave. I didn't know if he could see that I wasn't interested or not, but I was for sure hinting it.

"Are you from around here Thea, because I've never seen you around and if I did we would've been hooked up." Joshua said this with a smile, like he was impressed with his comment.

"Did he really just say that? Now I definitely don't feel bad for him." I thought.

"No I'm not from around here, I'm from North Carolina."

The waiter finally came with our food which looked delicious. I thought he would stop talking when we got our food but I was wrong completely.

"So why did you move to Pennsylvania? You wanted to get all the hot Penn boys."

"No I got a full scholarship to Penn." I let out a fake laugh, because I was really disgusted by his comments.

"What's your major?"

"Psychology. Yours?"

"Mathematics. I want to be a math professor like Professor Leah."

"Oh that sound nice."

"I can calculate that after dinner we're going to my place." Joshua said that with a smirk.

I let a out a loud laugh. I was done with him and his obnoxious comments. And I needed to tell him the truth.

"I'm sorry Josh but I'm not interested in you like that."

"Are you serious?" You can tell he was confused.

"Yes and I think I'll be taking a Uber home."

"I thought you liked me but I guess your a fucking lair." I could tell he was getting angry.

"I never lie to you. You assumed that I liked you." I was starting to get angry and I need to leave. I got my purse and got up from the table. Soon after Josh grabbed my wrist.

"What the hell is wrong with you, get off of me." I was getting more angry and I was starting to get scared.

After a moment he let his tight grip on my wrist go. I started to walk away not knowing were I was going.

"Thea. Thea I'm sorry I didn't mean to. Let me drive you home." He sound apologetic.

"Leave me alone." I said with tears rolling down my eyes. I kept walking until I couldn't see him or the restaurant anyway . Then I got myself a Uber.

After 10 minutes of sitting on a sidewalk my Uber finally came. I sat in silence the whole ride, crying about what's just happen to me.

When I arrived on campus and I went to my dorm only to find Nysha gone. I was glad to see that she wasn't here, so she didn't have to see my teary eyes. When I settled in and got myself together I saw a bruise around my wrist. It was like a purple band was around my wrist. I cried at the sight of the bruise.

I tried to go to sleep but all I could think about was Joshua and his actions. His words stuck with me, and the way he grabbed me replay's in my head like a broken record. I needed to sleep this off. I needed this to leave my memory, forever.
