run. is the first thing young sunghoon's mind thought of when he saw his mother's boyfriend figure. his mother had decided for them to hangout with her boyfriend, thinking it'd be great for the three to have a "bond." but, sunghoon did not like his mother's boyfriend. he didn't like the things he'd do to him. they were horrible and disgusting.
even if sunghoon was only just a little boy, he knew the things that were happening to him we're not okay.
sunghoon quickly withdrew his hand away from his mothers hold, he quickly run away. running to who knows where. "sunghoon?! come back here right now!" his mother called out, but the 6-year old boy wouldn't budge, running and running until he could no longer see the figure.
before sunghoon knew it, he was long gone from them. standing in the middle of a forest. tall trees that seemed to scare sunghoon from the loneliness. "mom?" sunghoon's voice cracked, scared. he looked around his surroundings, looking for someone. anyone or anything.
"hello?" another young boys voice drew in, footsteps coming closer to sunghoon. startling him, he fell to the ground. "are you okay?" a boy appeared into sunghoon's view. messy hair as it looked like it should get a haircut soon; round big brown eyes; over all he looked innocently cute, sunghoon had thought.
the boy offered sunghoon a hand, sunghoon gladly took it. "you're not around here, are you?" the boy spoke.
sunghoon shyly shook his head. "no." he quietly said, embarrassed. sunghoon quickly wiped his tears away. he avoided eye contact as the other boy took quiet a notice in him. the boy turned around, pretending to walk away.
"what are you doing here?" the boy popped into sunghoon's view once again, smiling widely, showing his kid-like teeth.
sunghoon looked away, blushing lightly. but, then he remembered. what was he doing here? right...he was running away from his mother's boyfriend.
"i...i ran away from my mother's boyfriend." sunghoon admitted, hoping he hadn't made the wrong choice to tell the strange little boy.
"why would you do that?" the other questioned.
"be-because...he does...things to me...things... i don't like..."
"if you don't like it, why don't you tell him to stop?"
"it's not easy!" sunghoon responded, raising his voice in frustration. "i can't tell him to stop. he doesn't listen. i can't tell mommy either, she won't like it. she liked him so much, i don't wanna ruin anything!"
"if you don't speak up, you'll always be in trouble, right? do you want to live in trouble all your life? i wouldn't like that...in fact, i want my happiness! i don't wanna suffer for someone else. if i don't like things, i tell someone! it doesn't matter who, i just wanna be happy!"
sunghoon's breath hitches, his whole movement stops, everything stops for a moment. his eyes glimmer at the sight of the other boy.
"wh-what's your name?" sunghoon asks, finding the need to know the little boys name.
"my name is sim jaeyun! but, you can call me jake." jake flashes sunghoon a bright smile. sunghoon can't help but to feel the admiration towards the other boy.
"i like the name jake..." sunghoon whispers to himself.
"what's your name?!" jake exclaims, excited to make a friend.
"m-my name?"
jake nods his head, eagerly.
"my name is park sunghoon.."
