Lacey
"Come on Lacey. It's been a month since you broke up with Ashton. Time for some fun." Theresa says, trying to pull me out of bed.
"I'm not going to a frat party just so you can hook up with a guy." I say to her.
"It's not just that Lace. You've been sitting here for the past month eating ice cream and watching Netflix. You need to get out" Theresa says.
"What if he shows up? Yeah it's a frat party but still. They could show up." I say
"I doubt they'll show up. But if they do, we can leave. We don't have to stay if you don't feel comfortable." Theresa says and I nod.
I get up and walk I to the bathroom to take a shower. Once I'm finished, I dry my hair and curl the ends. I slip on a cute dress from Charlotte Russe, it's strapless, black top and floral flowy bottom. I put on light makeup and spray perfume before walking out.
"Whoa look at you!" Theresa says.
"Don't make a big deal out of it because it's not a big deal." I tell her.
She disappears into the bathroom, I sit on the edge of my bed and scroll through my phone as I wait. An hour later Theresa walks out with her long brown hair curled, heavy make up on and a short tight dress. She slips on her stilettos and grabs her clutch.
"Ready?" She asks and I nod.
I slip on my heels and crab my purse before walking out of the dorm with her. We walk to the frat house taking close to half an hour and surprisingly I don't notice anyone I know once we arrive.
"Wanna drink?" Theresa asks me.
"We're in a club, won't they ID us?" I ask and she shakes her head.
"When they hold frat parties here, they never ID anyone because they'll know we'll find a way around it anyways." She answers.
"Oh, okay sure. What else do I have to lose." I say as I walk over to the bar with Theresa and order a drink. After about the third one, I'm feeling better than ever.
"Come on" Theresa pulls me onto the dance floor.
My body moves in ways I didn't know was possible as song after song plays. I immediately stop once I hear a too familiar tune play throughout the building.
She's dropping out of school cause she don't need the grades
The colors in her hair, don't seem to fade.
I get dressed up when I go out, but she gets dressed down."No" I say to myself as I slowly turn around. My nightmare becomes a reality when I see the four people I've became close with jamming on the small stage. As I look around at everyone dancing, I soon feel like I'm about to pass out. I look at them, knowing they've already seen me in the crowd. By the time I've collected my thought they were into the second verse. My favorite one.
She's got a rose tattoo, but she keeps it covered.
I play guitar but she's into drummers...As I watch Calum sing that line, he sends a wink my way making me slightly smile and shake my head. The song soon ends and Ashton stands up from his drum set and walks to the front, taking away Luke's spotlight, he makes eye contact with me and my heart falls into the pit of my stomach.
"I thought I would take the opportunity to say a few words to introduce this next song. About a month ago, I screwed up causing me to lose a girl I deeply loved. As she left me, I went home that night with so many emotions running through me. Sadness, anger, a bit of passion. And through those emotions a song emerged. That very girl, who inspired this next song out of all of those emotions is standing right in this very room. I hope she listens to the words and realizes how much I truly love her. The lads will sing this song as always, but credit to the drummer who wrote it." he chuckles as he makes his way back to his drums. A soft medley soon starts playing.
"Should we go?" Theresa asks.
"No, not right now anyway." I say as I wipe a tear falling down my cheek. She nods.
I drove by all the places we used to hang out getting wasted.
I thought about our last kiss, how it felt, the way you tasted.
Even though your friends tell me you're doing fine.
Are you somewhere feeling lonely even though he's right beside you.
When he says those words that hurt you, do you read the ones I wrote you?
Sometimes I start to wonder was it just a lie?
If what we was real. How could you be fine?
Cause I'm not fine at all.As they keep singing, I feel myself get closer and closer between the crowd. Making my way to the front, Theresa following behind. As I hear verse after verse more tears fall from my eyes. Once they reach the bridge of the song, I notice Ashton start taking anger out on his drums and his eyes start to water.
If today I woke up with you right beside me
Like all of this was just some twisted dream
I'd hold you closer than I ever did before
And you'd never slip away
And you'd never hear me say..They repeat the chorus one last time before finishing the song and walking off the small stage after thanking everyone. I quickly run behind the stage, running around before seeing Ashton and attacking him with a hug. He's startled at first but quickly wraps his arms around me once he realises it's me.
"I'm so sorry" I cry.
"No, it's my fault. It's all my fault I should be the one apologizing" Ashton says into my shoulder.
"I love you Ashton, I never stopped loving you" I cry into his chest.
"I know baby. I know you didn't. We just needed a break is all." he calms me.
"Can I stay with you tonight? I wasn't planning on going to class tomorrow anyway." I say and he nods.
"Yeah of course." he says as he rubs my back.
"I should go fine Theresa and let her know." I say and he nods.
I walk back out to the club and walk to Theresa once I spot her.
"Hey, I'm staying with Ashton tonight are you gonna be okay? He can take you back to the dorm if you need him to." I tell her.
"No, it's okay. I'm staying at Michaels place tonight." She winks.
"Ooo tell me how it is" I wink back making us both laugh.
I hug my roommate before finding Ashton and walking out with him as Theresa walks out with Michael. We get into their cars are drive our separate ways.
