Veda Henderson has always had difficulty coping with change, much harder than her little brother Dustin. Unlike him, she finds it hard to adapt to the news of a dangerous world that almost mirrors theirs.

When she faces a resident of that world--one her brother had named after a character from his game--she finds herself unable to sleep.

Drowning in desperation, Veda turns to many people for help, but none of them would give her the remedy she was after.

At first, she landed on a new kid--Billy Hargrove--but that was short-lived once she saw him get ripped open by a giant monster.

Next, she moved on to Ricky Fitz who provided her with any drug her addicted mind could ever dream of. If he had malicious intent or not, Veda didn't care, she was happy to get sleep.

Things were going well for her in the drug department, that was, until Ricky moved away and gives her one name that may be able to still help her: Munson.
