"Bey?" She called out in the faintest voice as she laid on the older woman's chest. Her own still rising and falling mechanically to find a slow, calm rhythm to counteract the fast, deep and exhausted rhythm of before.

"Hmmm?" The blonde woman hummed as the two weren't looking at each other, but in their own worlds as they relaxed into the plush sheets beneath their toppled bodies. Arms wrapped around one another and each woman's hair disheveled from the quick movement of jumping so hard to falling down together in one swift motion.

"Why do you always say it's so scary getting old?" She asked inquisitively as she was just thinking about things Bey would say and how there were certain phrases that she didn't quite understand even after knowing her for so long.

"It's like she said in the song" the deep voice rang out as it leveled out to match the quiet tone she was reverberating back.

"She said 'This dream isn't feeling sweet, We're reeling through the midnight streets, And I've never felt more alone, It feels so scary getting old" the younger woman repeated from recollection as she tried to figure out how that was gonna answer her question. She didn't like riddles and the woman holding her was throwing a major one at her to solve.

"But she says it like she's living a life she doesn't want... are you?" She asked with a quipped brow from trying to go literal with her approach to reading between the lines. The thought of Bey being unhappy made her feel melancholic as she felt like she hadn't done her job of making her endlessly smile throughout all of these years.

"No, I have everything I need in this life" Bey answered and instead of Nicki feeling relieved, she just felt more curious then as to why getting old was so frightening to her.

"Well is it everything you'd dreamt it'd be? Is it as sweet as your younger self imagined?" She then moved onto the other lyrics because surely something wasn't right for her to be quoting it so vividly.

"It's not far off from what I'd always dreamt, but it's not exactly how little Bey envisioned" the amber eyed woman somberly spoke which made both woman sigh as they were getting into the waters of a deep conversation.

"And how so?"

"It's too complicated for even me to wrap my head around, but when I can fully explain it, you know I'll always let you know first" Bey closeted her answer, knowing that if she even tried to form words to describe what she was trying to convey they'd just end up being swirled into an unrecognizable essay of nothingness. There wouldn't be any substance to her words and Bey never said anything if the intended meaning wasn't gonna transfer over.
