Season 3 Chapter 15

-A Gecko Without A Tail-

Narrator POV

Familiar music played from the elevator in the YG Entertainment building. Smugly leaning against the wall of that same elevator was the person that Hwang had summoned to her office. Gecko's hair was overdone, as usual, and did little to compliment the overly cocky attire that he wore to show off his status. Even though his clothes were in style, he wore them in a way that put his condescending nature in the spotlight.

The click of Gecko's fashionable shoes echoed toward the office of YG Entertainment's CEO. He approached the door and opened it without knocking. The room was quiet as Hwang slowly looked up at the intruding man. She sat the pen that she was using down and clasped her fingers together atop her desk. The annoyance was prevalent on her face. The two's gaze met each other for a moment before Hwang spoke up.

"Has anyone ever taught you how to knock? The last time I checked, this was my company, not yours." Hwang scolded with raised eyebrows.

"You called me, besides, I'm the best in this company. Not like you could replace me if you tried."

"Keep running your mouth, and you'll find out just how easy it would be for me to replace you. You'll also find it really hard to convince another company to put you on a contract."

Gecko grunted in frustration, knowing that Hwang had the edge in the exchange they were having. Even though he was well aware of the power dynamic at play, he was used to getting his way and being treated specially. But in this situation, he had no leverage whatsoever.

"Whatever, what did you want?"

"What did I tell you about tone?" Hwang scolded. "I called you in here about your antics in your last interview."

Gecko's mood changed visibly. From annoyed to prideful. His lips stretched into a smirk, proud of his handy work.

"What about it? I had to defend my girlfriend and show how great a guy I am. I also made the company look even better. Now wherever he goes, that company loses clout. It's a simple and easy win for us." Gecko smiled at his scheme. The pride plastered all over his face.

"Shut up, you idiot!" Hwang's voice raged over his own, startling him. "I let you go to one interview without a damn babysitter and you run your mouth so far off script you put my company in deep shit."

"What do you mean? We're one of the big three. There's no way you can't shut anyone up that starts talking shit."

"You cannot be that stupid. Do you know how any of this works?"

"I just explained how it all works. I see the big three shutting people up all the time when they're exposing information about the company!" The level of his voice began to rise. "I'm not worried about-"

"Sit down and shut up!"

It was almost as though Hwang turned off Gecko's voice. He quickly fell back into the chair he stood from. Hwang's head hung, her jaw muscles pulsing with anger. Gecko's smugness began to waver with her newly presented aggravation.

"We have already gotten a legal notice about this. From the company that he is with now, and we will not win with the way you ran your mouth live on air. I talked with them with our legal team present, and we came up with a solution." A look of relief washed over Gecko's face at Hwang's words. Even going as far as returning to the usual smug look he wore.

"See, we're one of the big three, no one can touch us." He lounged himself back in his chair. "So, what are they doing to him? I bet a public apology and some kind of pay and resignation?"

Gecko's laughing began to fade when it became obvious that Hwang was not laughing with him. In fact, the room became silent. Hwang's icy stare pierced through him as his voice quieted more and more. His eyes uncomfortably met hers.

"Am I laughing?"

"No, Ma'am."

"Is this a joke to you?

"No Ma'am."

"Is it funny to you?"

"No Ma'am..."

"You realize that this entire situation is your fault, don't you?"

"Come on, you let him go and even banned Blackpink and anyone else here to contact him or interact with him. There's no way he's that good a person!"

"The decision we have come to is to allow Jennie to speak completely honestly in a tell-all style of interview. There will be no guidance from me, and she will be demanded to tell the entire truth." Hwang stated flatly.

"By that, you mean you will tell her what to say before, right?"

"Are you really too stupid to understand what I just said? There will be no guidance. Not from me, not from you, not from anyone. When I say she will be telling the truth, I mean the actual truth. Depending on what she says, may even dictate your future." Gecko's smug demeanor changed drastically once again. "It's bad when Jennie even called me to complain. Normally, I ignore idols' complaints and let them suffer through it, but when it's something that ends up affecting the company, that's when we have a problem that I need to address. Furthermore, you will not be allowed around Jennie. As of now, your break-up announcement is being planned."

"Wait, what do you mean? You can't force us to break up!"

"Do you not understand that your relationship wasn't real, right?

"You can't do that! Jennie is literally making me popular! Fans love Jencko!"

"Fans are stupid. You heard what I said, you can leave. If I find out you have contacted Jennie, Y/n, or anyone that makes this worse, you will be blacklisted faster than you make an excuse. Get out of my office."
