The day had finally come for us to leave Patch. Unlike our last ship, this one was almost empty. The only people on the ship were certified huntsmen and huntresses, looking for a challenge in Vale. Another difference was that Yang was with me. She'd decided to follow with us to Vale, itching for a fight, and I was glad she did.
"So, are we landing on a Grimm infested beach?" Asked Yang.
"No, Cepheus has always stayed away from Grimm. He's gonna go towards smaller towns and keep away from the infested lands," I explained.
"Do we even know what he's after in Vale?" She asked.
"No, but whatever it is, my brother doesn't need to be a part of it," I said.
We arrived at a small port connected to a town. This was the only town remotely close to Vale that still was operating. It was under constant huntsman protection. As we stepped off the ship I could see an Atlas soldier checking the passengers.
"Huntsmen ID's please," ordered the soldier.
Yang and I produced our ID's, but the soldier brought Yang's to his attention.
"This is a huntress-in-training ID," he said.
"Huntsmen are permitted to bring trainees along with them," I said.
"Correct, until now. Vale has been deemed too dangerous for trainees," said the soldier.
Of course it was. I looked over at Yang, but then remembered something.
"Sir, what school does that say on her ID?" I asked.
The soldier scoffed as he looked again.
"She attends... Beacon," he said.
The soldier looked back up at Yang, who held up her cybernetic arm, as if to say 'still think I'm too inexperienced?'.
"Alright, you two are clear. But I still need his," said the soldier, pointing at Antonio.
I knew Antonio didn't have an ID, as he wasn't even a Huntsman in training.
"He lost his ID, we need to get a replacement," Yang quickly said.
Smart girl. Now let's see if we can keep up the charade.
"Alright sir, do you recall your ID number?" Asked the soldier.
"His number is..." I started.
The soldier put his hand up to me.
"I asked him, not you," he said.
Shit, Antonio don't you fail me now.
"lo siento señor, no entiendo lo que dice," said Antonio.
"What? Your huntsman ID, sir," said the soldier.
"no hablo tu idioma, pendejo!" Said Antonio "Perdí mi identificación y necesito obtener una nueva aquí."
"What the hell is he saying?" Asked the soldier.
"I don't know, but it's probably along the lines of: 'he needs a new ID' if I had to guess," I said.
"How did he tell you that he lost his ID if you can't understand him?" Asked the soldier.
"It's amazing what hand gestures can convey," said Yang, in a smartass tone.
The soldier growled in frustration, before waving us off.
"Just go already!" He ordered.
We all walked off of the dock and over to the cargo dock to pick up our transportation. Lightning was ecstatic to see me again as we approached.
