Volume 1 - Chapter 5 - A Fresh Start

Uncle's POV

Dragging Akira by his hand, we walked through the crowded Downtown Tokyo.

Akira: "Hey! Where are we going?! At least tell me that so you can stop pulling me."

I giggled loud enough for him to hear me.

Me: "Sorry but not yet, it'll ruin the surprise!"

I stumbled upon the convenience store where his surprises were currently shopping.

Me: "Suprise!"

Akira's face dropped in excitement.

Akira: "Dad, Aimee, Kaede! What are you guys doing here?"

His dad was the first to greet him.

Atsushi: "Well Akira, it's a month until school, so you'll be staying with us for the time being. If you want to, that is."

He stared wide-eyed and smiled from ear to ear.

Akira: " Of course I do."

After hearing those words, I smiled and made my exit. I hadn't told Akira goodbye, I'm not good with those. I left his father a note for him on his phone and approached my car. My entry into the car was interrupted by someone running toward me.

Akira: "UNCLE!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!"

He bowed his head solemnly.

I simply waved back at him and scrolled my window up.

On the drive back I received a message from Akira's Father.

Atsushi: "Thanks for everything Shiro-san. How can I even begin to repay for this?"

I smiled at the text and replied.

Me: "I took Akira for ramen at our spot, next time it's on you 😁."

I turned off my phone and stared out the window.

Me: "Back to the Whiteroom, please. Hideo."

1 month has passed - Akira's POV

My hands were clasped together as I bowed before the grave of my mother.

Akira: "Mom I'll be going to school tomorrow, although for a very specific reason. But I'm excited, it feels like I can get a fresh start you know. So watch over me ok, I love you mom, I miss you."

I placed a bouquet on her grave and walked backward, distancing myself from the grave. I stood next to my father and Kaede.

Father: "Your uncle said that Hideo's gonna pick you up soon, the bus from the school will pass there tomorrow."

I looked at him and nodded.

Me: "Yeah that's fine."

Dad: "You'll do well, I know it. After all, you're Akari's son, both you and Aimee are brainboxes haha."

I heard the motor of a Mercedes outside.
