Volume 2 - Chapter 4 - Class D

Sakayanagi's POV

(This takes place during the time Sakayanagi and Kito went to Class D during the last chapter.)

Kito and I left Class A and arrived at Class D just a few moments later. However, to my surprise, there was no one there. Kito looked at me and tapped me on my shoulder. This was strange since the classes for today had just ended. Usually, there would be people lingering in class until late into the afternoon.

Me: "Yeah Hayato-kun, this is indeed strange. A miscalculation on my part."

I tugged his arm indicating for him to continue following me. I was simply following the path in front hoping to miraculously encounter a Class D student. After sauntering for about 20 minutes, my hopes were answered.

A girl had bumped into Kito from behind and fell to the floor. She seemed to be in a rush and swiftly got up and apologized. I recognized this girl, she was Kushida from Class D. She'd often be seen around Class A since she had friends in every class.

Bowing her head, breathing feverishly, she said.

Kushida: "I'm so sorry!"

She got up and continued to run however I stopped her.

Me: "Wait! Where are you going in such a hurry?"

She stopped and looked at me. I can see tears welling up in her eyes.

Kushida: "I'm going to visit my friend, he's unconscious. I have to see him."

Her legs started to wobble and her body started to shake. She couldn't continue to hold herself up. I noticed this and asked.

Me: "Are you ok? We can help you if you want?"

Kushida: "No it's fine really, I can get there on my own."

The minute she said that she collapsed on the floor, oblivious to her condition, she seemed surprised when she fell.

I signaled Kito to pick her up and help her to walk. He approached her and held out his hand. She grabbed it and got back on her feet. Kito then stomped down and allow Kushida to hold onto his shoulder. We walked together in the direction of the nurse's office.

Me: "Is this friend you're going to visit, Kawakami-kun by any chance?"

Kushida: "Yeah. You know him?"

She looked at me with puppy eyes.

Me: "Yeah we're his friends, that's a coincidence, we're going to visit him too."

Her face lit up with excitement.

Kushida: "Really then are you from Class A?"

Me: "Yes both of us are."

She looked at Kito who nodded back to her.

Kushida: "Wow really, what's your name?"

Me: "Arisu Sakayanagi."

She forcefully stretched out her arm to me while walking.

Kushida: "I'm Kikyo Kushida. Nice to meet you."

After I shook her hand she retracted it and continued to walk, using Kito as support. I couldn't grasp the feeling that I was getting from her. She seemed friendly yet had an ominous vibe to her. I got the feeling that she was using Kawakami for something, that she may even be involved in this situation. Thus, my intuition decided that I follow her and see what I can learn.
