MICHELLE HATED HER FULL NAME.
her dad picked out that name and every time she hears it her mind can't help but think of him. of how he up and went not long after dustin was born, how he ditched his wife, daughter and son - leaving her a single mother. how he would go to the shitty bar down the street after work and come home fucking wasted. how he would scream such awful things at his wife, children too young to understand what was going on.

but that asshole is gone, and now michelle goes by mick.

she liked it much better anyway because it suited her. michelle sounds like a girl who goes to cheer practices and watches movies like pretty in pink, idolizing molly ringwald or some shit.

but mick, mick suited her.

the girl who skates after school with her walkman and smokes cigarettes on rooftops by herself, watching the sun set and contemplating life. the meaning of life - like what is it?

the only people that really call her michelle are her mother and her school teachers. god, she hates school. she gets good grades because learning comes easy to her, but the environment is pure suffocation. the jocks and cheerleaders around every corner, infecting the school like maggots with their fake smiles and shallow minds. and jason. the biggest asshat of them all. my god she hates jason.

believe it or not, jason and mick were friendly at one point. it was way before hawkins high, dating back to sandbox. they were good friends, sharing lunches together and swinging on swings. that was until they got to high school and jason joined the basketball team - and just like that the kid with a once decent personality shifted into a total douchebag. she doesn't like to talk about it.

mick doesn't have many friends, besides robin and steve who she works with at the video store. mick will join them for movie nights at the drive in theater and random biking sessions around the neighborhood into all hours of the night. they're pretty cool. dustin introduced mick to steve a few years back and she almost didn't believe the possibility that they could be friends. steve the hair harrington. and her brother who in his spare time played some dungeon game in mike's basement and collected comics like they were currency or some shit. odd, but whatever.

dustin's friends were also kinda considered her friends, especially since they've gotten to high school and mick watches over them like their protective older sister.

regardless of whether they want it or not.
