Fireafy bcuz why not?

Strangers (angst and maybe fluff but mostly angst)

(This is gonna be a long one lol, ig it's an au where since Firey acted like leafy was a stranger, leafy did too and so firey gets a bit angry and when bfb 22 rolls around, when leafy confronts firey, firey asks her why she pretended to not know him as well and yeah. Also I have a head canon for how leafy and firey touch and make contact. I've actually tried burning leaves in my childhood and they never really burst up into flames, they had burn marks and sometimes they'd turn into holes but that's it. So I think Leafy bursts up into flames whenever a flammable substance is on her.

When Leafy returned from Yoyleland after being isolated for several years because at that point the yoyleberries were making her sick. She didn't really expect people to be friends with her again but she just wanted food and wanted to make up with Firey in private but when she returned, Firey pretended dream island never happened. He pretended she never met him. Leafy was enraged and really sad but she wanted to get firey back so she pretended she didn't know him as well. "Oh sorry, I must've mistaken you for someone else. Sorry I've lost a friend. My name's leafy, eh what is your name?" Leafy said, a forced smile across her face. Firey's expression changed from blank to offended. He still did his facade of not knowing leafy. "It's Firey.. umm thanks for recovering me and the others.. I hope you find that friend of yours." Firey said, although his hands were balled up into fists. Leafy then left as she realized she was never welcome and decided to go back to yoyleland and into yoyle-city. There was a place she had her knife collection, she planned on doing something like suicide where nobody was watching but she froze up before she could do anything. She realized people would notice if she was gone from their sight but she doesn't know if anybody would care enough to bring her back.. would they? Firey didn't really seem to care now that they're strangers and upon seeing her, Bubble and Pin tried to freeze her and possibly shatter her. Maybe nobody would care. Leafy sighed and decided to do it, she held the knife up to her face and jammed it into her body, slowly dying from blood loss.

She wouldn't be back until two years when Firey recovered her but he was punished because of that and now everyone else was in her place of hiding so she moved over to the mountains, there were still plenty of berries and wildlife to eat off of. Leafy made a tent, and still had plenty of knives to kill and eat animals with. Not many people ventured off to the mountains, mostly cause Evil Leafy was there frequently and they can't risk another death. They didn't know where Leafy ventured off to and wanted to find her and punish her via death penalty but they can't do that right now. A few more years passed and everyone had slowly forgotten about the punishment for Leafy. Leafy knew that firey still cared about her and still knows her but she didn't know why. When Four and X showed up she decided not to be on the same team as him, he'd probably still pretend that she's a stranger. It was a lost cause anyway, Firey ignored her or someone would distract Firey whenever she tired to talk and apologize. It wasn't until bfb 22 when they had a chance to talk.
"As for you, Firey what was that about?!" "What?" "Your story is a lie, I was there. I came to the have-nots to check in on what you guys were up to. You never got into the argument between flower and taco, I never said any of that nonsense, you lied!" Firey's face grimaced and he made a "hmmnn" sound. "Don't tell me you stole the diary! Is that why you lied?" "Mn" Leafy's face was filled with shock, disappointment and sadness. "Firey why would you do that?" "Because you stole dream island from me!" "You stole donuts diary because I stole dream island?! That doesn't make any sense!" "We battled for two years to win dream island! And you just took it away from me." "You didn't let me in!" "So what leafy.. you couldn't just wait to have a talk about it? You went straight to the Announcer instead? And then we competed again and I didn't get a prize! And now we're competing for what? Some weird "a bfb" thing.. that I might not even win based on the votes. Woody and blocky got more than me, blocky did! I have no chance! I'm never gonna win anything because of you! So I took this." Firey brought out the diary. "So what? I deserve to have something! Everyone was saying they wanted this diary, I wanted it. I deserve to have something everyone wants! It's only fair." "I thought you didn't care..." "what?" "When we flew away on the hang-glider together you said to me, "I realized what I wanted most wasn't dream island, it was you, your friendship." I thought I was more important to you than dream island.. and all of this.. why've you been distancing yourself from me? What's the point?!" "They were gonna crush you, leafy. I still care about you but I was still upset, you hurt my feelings leafy and you never apologized.." "When you saw me in BFDIA, I was actually trying to apologize to you in private... I know where dream island is and I was gonna pass the ownership to you.. but then you acted as a stranger so that made me think you didn't care about me anymore... until you recovered me, you didn't know how I died didn't you?" Leafy said and firey felt a big amount of instant regret. "No.." "I uh.. committed suicide on myself after thinking about it. I knew people would notice I was gone but I didn't think anybody cared enough to revive me until.. well, until you recovered me." Firey didn't know what to say. "Leafy, why would you think I didn't care about you anymore?!" "Because you treated me as if I were a stranger, someone that isn't as important to you. I thought I'd get you back at doing the same, to give you a taste of your own medicine but when we feuded in episode 15, I snapped. I was tired of pretending I was never your friend and then the way you said that "nobody likes you anymore" it felt that you were part of that too. You said "of course we're still friends" but that doesn't make any of it better, it just felt fake, it felt like I was something you didn't want to love anymore. I'm not gonna say you were being mean because you were a lot worse — pretending were still "friends" was undoubtedly a big mistake, if you still cared about me, you would've talked to me in private but no, the only reason we're talking now is because I was allowed to talk to you in private. But for what it's worth, I'm really sorry for what I did! I wasn't thinking right! Bt please take it from someone who stole for a petty reason, don't do the same mistakes I did, just give this diary back. "Augh! But now they're gonna know I did this! You're gonna have to hand me in to win the challenge and ughh I'll be up for elimination, be voted out and everyone will be mad at me!" "Well I'm used to it.. firey, if you go and return the diary, I'll just go and say I took it — this whole mess is my fault anyways.." Firey blushed a bit. "You'd really do that for me..?" "Of course, being eliminated is no fuss but.. losing a friend forever is.. and I'm really sorry about how everything went down..!" "Well hopefully we can have a bright future! Hug?" "Sure!" Firey hugged leafy and Leafy, although burning,  remained calm and hugged back. "Oh my volcano! I'm so sorry, I forgot I burn you." Firey said, looking at the burn mark he gave leafy. "Hey, it's okay, I've had worse injuries. I once had gasoline poured on me and then when I tried to make a campfire using a lighter andI burst into flames.. let's just say they used me as a camp fire." Leafy said. "Anyways, go and get 'em, Firey." Leafy said, walking back to the courtroom. Firey ran to where the diary originally was but encountered X.. "I should tell four this." They said and floated towards the courtroom. "Oh no! I gotta get to that courtroom as soon as possible!"
"Four I found out who is responsible for stealing the diary!" "Okay!" A light admitted from fours head to X's head. "Did you just scan my brain?" "I sure did!" "Hooray! ...remember to keep my secrets.." "anyway, now I know which one of you stole the diary and you will receive a punishment from me later, as for the challenge we're coming up on the one hour mark, so I'll have the have-cots to finish their official judgement on who stole the diary now!"
"Hello!" Firey said, panting. "I uhh.. have something to confess guys.. I stole the diary.." Leafy's team gasped. "What? Stealing again? Wow, leafy new low." Lollipop said. "Uhh we only have two minutes before the true owner of this courtroom comes back here so times up! Have-cots what's you final answer?" "Uhh I guess we gotta go with Leafy.. Teardrop's documentation of the case didn't real help so uhh... Leafy, final answer!" "Alright then, so Have-cots you have found the defendant Leafy guilty on theft of donut's juicy diary! If Leafy was the true theif, your team wins but if she's not the have-nots win instead! Let's expose the truth!" There was a moment of silence and then four spoke. "Well.. that's wrong." "Huh?! Why did you lie to us?! Did you purposefully wanna lose the challenge?!" "My bad." "Really weird of you to do leafy.." "sorry."
"Well uh we don't have a high enough budget to build a jail... the guilty individual goes free! I'd be scared everyone, there's a criminal among you!"
As the episode wraps up, Leafy wanders off somewhere else, call her a doofus but she has her own notebook to write in, she uses it as an escape since there's no therapy for her. She's had it every since yoyleland was her home. Leafy writes, "today I finally got to spill my feelings to firey — I'm really disappointed in myself though, I overshared a bit too much, he probably thinks I'm pathetic but we made up, he didn't really apologize to me for abandoning me but.. I'm gonna let him apologize when it occurs to him. I should now get some sleep. Goodnight object reading this.."
Leafy then hid it in the same spot she always put it, it wasn't in the have-cots tower because they've snooped through her stuff before so she hides it in a hole and hope the have-nots don't find it. Leafy went back to the tower and immediately went to her room, she didn't bother having dinner and when Lollipop and Gelatin checked in on her, she was passed out so they decided to let her rest.

However at night, Firey couldn't sleep and decided to explore a bit, he looked at the ground and saw that something was dug underneath some dirt, he thought it would probably be some fossils but upon digging the item out he found a notebook..? It read "leafy's notebook! Warning to anybody else that found this, please keep in mind this is my therapy journal so if you look inside you might be disturbed or maybe horrified from what I've been writing for the past ten years so if you find yourself being curious, keep in mind what triggering topics are in here so maybe just don't read it? This is private for a reason... I'd especially not want anybody who knows me well to find out I actually did this and know that I have issues, I shouldn't be helped, I'm the one who helps! Just please don't read this." Firey was both curious but also trying to restrain himself.. what did leafy mean by "I have issues?" What could be so bad that she has to warn someone who finds her diary to not read it because of the contents inside. Firey tried by thinking 'Firey if you read this, she could find out and possibly unfriend you and tell everyone! DONT LOSE HER AGAIN..' "but I must, I'm really curious..!" Firey whisper-yelled to himself.
