Steve had stayed with Dustin in Eddie's hospital room. The kid refused to leave his side and Steve didn't want to leave the kid, so they stayed. Dustin sat in a chair next to Eddie's unconscious body while Steve stood behind him. Steve could tell that Dustin was holding back tears

"Hey Henderson, he's gonna be okay. The Doctors said that he'd be unconscious for a little while but he'll be fine. You dont need to worry so much, okay?" Steve tried reassuring the younger boy in front of him. "But what if he doesn't wake up? What if he doesn't make it Steve? What do we do?" Dustin asks turning to look at Steve

"He'll be fine" Steve says almost sounding like he was trying to reassure himself, he was just as worried as Dustin was. How could he have done somthing so stupid? He told him to run if anything went wrong. He just had to play the hero. Steve was glad Dustin was okay though, except his leg. Dustin had felt guilty, he told steve he did. He had no reason to though. He couldn't have stopped him. Eddie made his own decisions. He didnt make Eddie stay in the upside down, he didn't tell him to fight the bats.

Dustin has sat and thought about what Eddie said to him before he lost consciousness. He hasn't said anything about it though. Eddie was alive. He could look after the Hellfire club members himself, he would graduate like he said he would, he would tell Steve he loved him. Dustin was so glad he didnt have to tell Steve that, he was glad he'd watch Eddie graduate, he was glad he'd watch Eddie lead another campaign.

Tears had started to fall, he couldn't help it, he watched his close friend almost die. He was still young, he had every right to cry, to yell, to scream. He was robbed of his childhood. Steve rubbed circles into Dustin's back and he moved to stand beside him. "Hey, its okay, it's okay to cry. Let it out." Steve's words has flipped a switch next thing he knows Dustin is sobbing into his hands.

Steve continues to rub circles into Dustin's back to try to make him feel better. Eventually sobs turned to sniffles and occasional hiccups. "You want some water? A hug? Some space? What do you need?" Steve asks crouching next to the boy as he calmed down

Dustin looked up at the older boy and chuckled "You really are a mom" he muttered rolling his eyes as he opened his arms asking for a hug. Steve rolled his eyes playfully at the younger. Before embracing him. He felt him relax in his arms, he could feel the younger boys stress melt away, he could feel his problems fade. Steve wished the younger boy could have had a better childhood, he wished all of the kids could have had a better child hood. None of them deserve what has happend to them, they have done nothing wrong. If there was a god steve wanted to have a long talk with them.

Steve felt Dustin grip onto steve tighter and felt tears on his shoulder. He rubbed more circles into the boys back as he cried once more. It was one of the only things he thought could comfort the boy. Suddenly Hopper had walked into the room. "Alright" Hopper says as the two pulled way from eachother. " I've got good news and I've got not so good news. Which do you want first?" He asks directing the question more towards Dustin than Steve.

"Bad news first, always" Dustin says picking at his cuticles obviously nervous. "We haven't cleared his name yet, but we're close. We just need some people to confirm our story, its obviously a cover up story but you know what I mean" Hopper says. Dustin's face lit up "Really? That's it?" Dustin asks clearly happy that his friend wasn't going to prison for something he didn't do.
