Hurried footsteps echoed through the night, the heavy panting of a woman holding something dear to her barely making it to her destination.

She had to hurry before it came out.

She had to hurry or it would be too late.

Groaning in pain, the woman held her stomach and continued her way out of the trees. It was beginning to sprinkle and her shoeless feet were beginning to feel the effect of the cold.

Hurry...

Hurry...

Placing her hand on a nearby tree, the woman bent forward and let out a cry of pain. Her legs trembled. Her heart began to race as she bit her lip to the point that it began to bleed. The pain was unbearable. Only once before had she experienced such pain, but now that it was the second time, it felt a little less troublesome.  As the pain subsided, she lifted her head and breathed out a shaky sigh.  From a distance, she could see the red sign of the Emergency Room with her green eyes. It was still too far away for her to reach there in less than fifteen minutes. But if she hurried...

Please... God...

The woman swallowed what she had in her mouth, not caring about the metallic taste that came from her blood.

She needed to get in there. Regardless of whether or not she made it there alive, it needed to live.

She caressed her stomach. Her bulbous, swollen stomach...

This was her second and she wasn't planning on losing this one too. She planned on keeping this one

You can do it...

Natalie...

The woman sat on her hospital bed with a relieved smile. Never in her life could she have imagined that what she had in her arms would come to be. She was so happy, in fact, that she forgot what day it was. It was the release date.

After a week, it was finally time to go home...

And how she would get home was already settled..

Suddenly, the door to her room burst open. She jumped and held her treasure closer to her in fright. After listening, the screams from the hallway entered the room and the woman couldn't help but crack a smile of relief. As soon as she did, a man with a hoodie over his head entered the room with a bag slug over his shoulder.

"It took you a while to get here," The woman said to the new arrival.

The stranger strode over to the woman's bedside and smirked. "I would have arrived a lot faster if I was allowed to slaughter a few nurses on the way over here."

The woman frowned. "Je-"

"Can't change what's in my nature, babe." The stranger said smoothly, bending down to give her a kiss on the forehead.

But as soon as his eyes landed what was in her arms, he stopped midway. She sat there confused before she looked down and realized what made him so surprised. She let out a small fit of laughter before the stranger came to his senses and brought a hand to his temples, growling.
