Thank you for reading the prologue of this story.

 I hope you are ready....

I hope you are ready for the REAL story to begin.

----

Five Years Later

She was sitting there staring into the woods as the breeze flowed trough her hair. Her eyes scanned the grass that she had watched her children play in for what seemed like forever ago. Her hands lay lazily on her lap as the birds chirped above her and a smile played at her lips. She rocked in her chair to the beat she had created, the creaking giving her a soft, comforting feeling. The soft creaking reminded her of her first child. The one she had to leave and forget....

The woman let out a sigh. A peaceful one, filled with relaxation.

And exhaustion

The children were gone with their father. He usually took them out for walks so they would know the woods like it was their room. He didn't want them to get lost or taken by a creature of the night. The woman never believed him, but he always warned the children about a man with no face and to stay away from him. And it was a wonder what they would come back with this time. Possibly a snake. Or a few insects. Or maybe a few dead animals.

Her lover always came up with something for the children to enjoy.

The woman felt her eyes flutter as a flurry of warmth overtook her.

She just felt so weak...

The woman didn't know how much longer she could keep it from her family. Ever since the birth of her children, something changed. She always felt so weak and in some occasions, she had fits of pain. She didn't know how or where the pain came from, but she feared that if she told her lover, she would never get to see him again.

He doesn't know that she's hurting...

Her eyes slowly came to a close, the brightness and the sounds of the forest completely fading away as she fell into blissful sleep.

She just felt so tired...

So tired....

So tired that she felt like she wouldn't be able to wake up even if she tried....

----

Children's laughter...

Very faint...

A long silence....

Hurrying footsteps...

All the woman could feel was pure numbness...

"Baby? What's wrong?!"

The woman couldn't move, nor respond to the familiar voice.

She could only feel a slight pain.

And the voice sounded so distant...

She just felt so tired...

She felt herself being lifted up, but she didn't open her eyes. They just felt so heavy and her mind was pushing her back into sleep.

"Stay! Stay inside the house! I'm taking your mom out! Stay inside and don't open it to anyone but me!"

The woman never heard a voice so worried....

"Damn it, Natalie! Don't you DARE die on me!!"
