Woke up the next morning with the sun shining down half of my face and I looked out the only window in the spare room, you can tell it is going to be a sunny day, the sky is bright and fruity, and mama is sound asleep.

I sat up and watched her sleep while thinking about everything, our lives, my life.....I was supposed to take my final exams, and apply for college but I guess that'll have to wait for now.

I thought about my siblings and I wondered how our last born is faring back home, my dad did not allow my mom take him with us, a part of me is glad he is not with us, and going through this with us, mama promised to go back for him once we've made something for ourselves.

It could be worse, but at least we don't have to worry about where we are going stay or how we are going to survive till Alice comes back from the city.

Alice is such a nice woman, a god sent, I wish her all the best things life has to offer, a total stranger that has gone out of way to accommodate and help us.

She talked to someone that offered to pay us if we could help her process raw food more like peel and wash them so they can be processed, it was the best we could get at the moment as she would be leaving for the city tomorrow, and we'll have the house to our selves for a week hopefully she finds aunty Mary.

I left the house with mama the next morning to officially report to work, after the initial orientation that I initially deemed unnecessary, we got to work at 9am and boy!! We had a lot of peeling to do, three baskets full each!!! it was challenging to say the least, I kept on cutting my self before I could perfect the art of handling a knife, mama insisted I stop severally, but time was a luxury we could not afford and the eagled eyed supervisor was watching us like a hawk, we managed to put up for like 5 hours before we went on a lunch break, if you consider chewing on a few nuts and lots of water lunch.

After our lunch break, we carried on peeling for three more hours before calling it a day, I was so tired, my arms, wrist and back were aching like crazy, so much so I contemplated telling mama and asking if we could look for another job, but receiving our pay for the day felt like drinking cold water after waddling in a desert for hours, I felt invigorated and all the pain from the long day work was long forgotten.

We got home just in time for dinner, we had dinner, while mama and Alice conversed, where I picked a few things from their dialogues, I got to know that her husband works in the city, and he only comes back home during the holidays and that they have not been able to have kids and a few other things about her.

After eating my fill I left them both at the table to go do the dishes and hopefully retire to bed on time.

We woke up the next morning to see Alice off after a few instructions on how to manage the house in her absence, we left for work with hopes of welcoming Alice back home in a week's time with good news.
