Lindsey felt his entire soul leave his body, the sight of Stevie's boyfriend as he answered the door in nothing but a hotel robe about the last thing he expected.
"Dave, hey!" He stammered, trying to play it cool. Maybe this was salvageable?
"You've got to be fucking kidding me," Dave stared, his face still in shock as he processed the sight of Lindsey, obviously very naked, here in Stevie's suite.
"I was just..." Lindsey started to explain, but was interrupted by Stevie's voice from the bedroom.
"Everything okay, babe?" She called. Lindsey went pale. Okay, maybe this wasn't salvageable.
"Yeah, babe, everything okay?" Dave asked, pushing past Lindsey and making his way into the suite towards Stevie's voice.
Lindsey quickly followed after as he watched Dave enter the bedroom to find a very naked Stevie wrapped in a white sheet. He had tried to somehow warn her before he got in there but it was too late at this point, he wasn't sure what to do. It seemed like this would be impossible to talk their way out of.
"Dave," she yelped sitting up in bed, "What are you..."
"I really am a fucking idiot, aren't I?" He shouted, looking back and forth between Stevie and Lindsey.
"Dave, please, I'm sorry, I can explain..." she stumbled, tears filling her eyes instantly.
"Has this been going on the entire time??? Is this why there's a sudden reunion tour?"
"NO!" Stevie shouted, "NO, it's not..."
Lindsey butted in, "No, I swear Dave, not at all...This is my fault."
"Well that I don't doubt," Dave rolled his eyes sneering at Lindsey, "You both disgust me."
"You have every right to say that," Stevie cried as she stood up from the bed, the sheet wrapped fully around her body as she stumbled towards Dave - her messy sex hair going in every direction. "Please, let's just talk."
"I should go..." Lindsey stammered, he'd never felt so awkward in his entire life. And that was saying a lot.
"Yeah, great idea," Dave snapped.
Lindsey thought about arguing back with the man, not exactly enjoying the attitude right now and his instinct being to protect Stevie, but he knew they were both treading on very thin ice here. He gathered his clothes and things in his arms, watching as Stevie stared at the floor, tears silently falling from her eyes. He wanted to go over and console her so badly, his heart feeling like it had just been ripped out of his chest and stomped on. He knew that was impossible though. The room remained silent.
"Okay..I'll leave you two...I...okay bye," he stuttered as he scrambled out of the room, Stevie not meeting his eye once before he left. He had to admit, that fucking hurt.
Once she and Dave were alone in the room, her cries became steadier as he watched her in silent rage.
"How long?" He asked, his voice finally filling the silence.
She looked up at him, "Not long. Dave, I promise you this is not what I planned. And it hasn't been going on this whole time, I swear to you."
"You know what? Deep down, I KNEW there was still something between you two. I tried to convince myself it was just jealousy though."
"I am so, so sorry. I know that doesn't mean much," she cried, "But you are the last person I ever wanted to hurt. I have no excuse other than Lindsey and I get very stupid and nostalgic and selfish when we're together. It's not right, and it doesn't make it okay."
