you opened your eyes to eddie's room. you could smell a light hint of weed and laundry detergent. you looked down to see the shirt you had put on during the night. you were still covered in the blankets, but no eddie. you stood, rubbing your eyes. you walked to the door and opened it up. what? where was eddie? you thought to yourself. "eddie?" you called out. no response.where was dustin? you thought again. "dustin?" you called out. no response. you opened the door that was leading outside. dustin was over on max's front porch with her. you walked over and they seemed surprised to see you. "oh hey! how'd you sleep?" dustin said as you walked onto the porch. you shrugged your shoulders and said, "where's eddie?" max raised her eyebrow. "oh someone was with eddie last night," she teased you.
"we only smoked together," you said as your cheeks turned red. dustin rolled his eyes and said, "well, i thought he was with you." "no, that's why i came outside. no one was in the trailer." you said as you sat down on one of the chairs max had. "weird.." max said. "yeah.." you said as you played with his shirt.
you and dustin hung out with max for a bit before going back to eddie's. "should we wait to see where he went?" you said as you walked in. "maybe he's rehearsing with his band." dustin said, cleaning up the mess he had made that night. "i mean his van wasn't there.." he trailed off, trying to find his hat. you walked into his room and got changed back into your clothes from yesterday.
you both got tired of waiting at his place, so you two started walking home. after getting half way there, that same old beat up van came rolling by. he put the window down and smiled. "need a ride?" eddie said as dustin was already getting in the back. you climbed in the front and smiled at eddie. after getting back home, dustin got out. you started to open the door until edie said, "wait, i just want to talk."
dustin shut the door and walked inside. "about?" you looked at him in confusion. "you haven't said a word this whole ride," eddie said, putting his hand on your thigh. "so?" "so, what's up?" "nothing," you said, taking your stare away from him. "nothing huh?" "well.. i was kind of worried something bad happened to you." you said, playing with his hand. he smirked and took his hand under your chin, making you make eye contact with him.
"nothing bad happened. my uncle didn't show up this morning and i thought something must've happened. he was just staying over some buddies house. i had to go see if he was okay. but.." he leaned in closer. "you're worried about me huh?" you shook your head as your face turned red. you took your eyes off of him again. "look at me, darling." he said, still close to your face. you didn't listen to him. "i said, look at me." you immediately looked back up at him. "good," he said, letting go of your face and backing up.
he had a cocky look on his face. you opened the car door and stepped out. "bye eddie, i'll see you in school monday.." you said, still flustered. "goodbye (y/n), see you then." you shut the door and walked into the house. he drove away.
that monday came rolling around and you and dustin had rode bikes that day. eddie didn't come to get either of you. you parked your bike next to dustin's and walked into school. you saw eddie's van, but no eddie. you walked into your history class and there he was, facing the opposite direction. you were going to talk to him until he turned. a girl was sitting there, under his gaze. your heart sank to your stomach. he leaned down to kiss her. "what?" you said under your breath.
the girl saw you staring and made a weird face. eddie looked over at you. his eyes got huge and he came over to you. "hey (y/n), sorry i didn't get you guys today." he said, trying to get you to look at him. you didn't say a word and kept your head down. "hey (y/n). i said im-" he said but you cut him off. "i don't care, eddie." you replied in a mean tone, still not looking at him. he stood there for a second until the bell rang.
after your classes, you walked to lunch with dustin. you could feel eddie's eyes on you the whole time. you sat next to him, but you angled your body away from him. "(y/n)?" eddie said, touching your arm. you shrugged him off. "(y/n)." he said again. "what, eddie?" you turned to him, glaring at him. the whole table seemed shocked. he stood up and grabbed your arm, tugging you to go with him.
you stood up and followed him. he led you into an empty, dark classroom. "whats your problem?" he said as he sat on the teachers desk. "i don't have one." you replied with your arms crossed. "c'mon, doll," he said as he pulled you into him. "don't call me that." you said, backing away from him slightly. he was taken back by your words. "was it maybe.." he said and looked down at his legs. "was it because of this morning?" he looked back at you.
you rolled your eyes and scoffed. "was it because of this morning?" you mocked him in a high pitched tone. he sighed. "no, (y/n). that's not what it looked like.." he said, reaching out to you. "you know.." you started. "i don't even have the right to be angry.." you could feel your heart racing. "you can kiss who you want eddie.." you said and walked out of the classroom door.
you went back to the lunch table and bent down to dustin's ear. "i'm going home, tell the office i got sick or something.." you said and took off out of the cafeteria. dustin started to say something, but you couldn't hear him since you were walking fast. you walked out of the doors and rode your bike home.
as soon as you got into the house, it started pouring rain. you went up stairs and got into comfortable clothes. you could hear the rain and the thunder outside. it was peaceful. no one was in the house except you and maybe a few bugs. you climbed into bed and immediately fell asleep as soon as your head hit the pillow.
later on, you heard someone knocking on your bedroom door. "hm?" you said in a sleepy tone. it was eddie. "hey (y/n), i brought dustin home since it was raining so hard.." he said, walking in and shutting the door. you sat up, barely awake. "yeah? that's nice," you mumbled, forgetting about earlier. he laughed softly. "i'm uh.. i'm sorry about earlier.."
you leaned against him and yawned. you were starting to wake up now. "it's okay eddie, i don't mind. as long as i have you as a friend.." you said, but he cut you off. "no, (y/n). her ex was right there and she wanted to make him jealous.. and.. and at first i didn't agree.. but then she told me she'd pay me and i.. i really needed that money.." you laughed a little, "so you kissed her for money?" "no! that's not.. well.. yeah i guess you could put it like that," he said, laying back on one of your pillows. "eddie, it's okay. really." you said, leaning back on the headboard.
"are you still mad at me?" he said, looking at you. "no, i'm not mad at you," you giggled. "friends still?" he said in a sweet tone. your heart ached slightly. "friends." you said, even though you didn't mean it.
