The rest of the holiday went smoothly. The two of them continued to hang out, but now that was over. Remus told Kat that he was going back to his home on the outskirts of Cardiff City and Kat told him that she had to go to Scotland for a while with their aunt. Every year, on the previous night, they dropped off the two children at The Burrow. It was now September 1st and Kat was getting ready to ride the Hogwarts Express.
That day, Kat felt like wearing a more masculine outfit so they ended up picking out a pair of khaki formal trousers and paired it with a brown shirt over their binder and a tweed trench coat with brown tattered boots. By the time they were ready, the clock read 10:07am, which reminded Kat that they needed to be at platform 9 3/4 at 11 o'clock. Grabbing their bag and wand, Kat levitated their trunk towards the backdoor and followed behind it before apparating to Diagon Alley and making their way towards Kings cross Station. Kat preferred apparation to any other form of transportation and around it much easier to get where they needed to be.
The time was nearing twenty to eleven by the time Kat arrived at platform 9. They levitated their trunk behind them and found a compartment towards the front of the scarlet red train. By five-to-eleven, the platform was filled with first years and their parents crying. As well as happy 7th years who were about to enjoy their final year of their home away from home.
At some point the Weasley Twins found Kat alone in the compartment and decided to join them.
'Why hello there-' George started.
'How's our favourite Slytherin-' Fred continued
'Doing on this fine day?' They finished together.
'You know how much I hate it when you do that, boys,' Kat whined. 'and for your information it went really well,' they continued, thinking back to the memory of having coffee with Remus and just the times that were spent with him. However, that smile slowly disappeared when they realised they might not hear from him again.
'What's wrong, little snakey?' George asked.
'Nothing Georgie, just thinking,' Kat responded.
'Oh yeah, about who?' said Fred with an accusatory face.
'No one, just thinking,' answered Kat, with a slight blush on their cheek. 'Can I not do that?'
'Look at that Freddie, our Kitkat is blushing,'
'I am not!' Kat replied defensively, the red on their face getting more noticeable.
'Totally, 'said Fred sarcastically.
'100%,' George continued.
'Boys, I'm being serious.' Kat voiced.
'Please tell us,' 'We won't tell a soul,' they both said simultaneously.
'C'mon love, you know you can trust us,' adds George.
'Fine,' Kat started, 'I met a guy during brea-.'
'What's he like?' asked Fred.
'He's amazing and sweet. And really caring too, he even likes the same music and books as me for Merlin's sake,' Kat stressed. 'Nothing happened between us, but I keep wondering. What if we had more time?' Kat looked out the window. 'Maybe things would be different. He's moved back to his home, and I'm going to be back at Hogwarts. He promised we could still owl each other, but what if he gets too busy? What if he forgets about me?' Kat stared silently out the train window, with tears filling their eyes.
Suddenly, the train came to a sharp halt. An ice cold chill started filling the train, freezing the windows and sucking up any happiness that was in the air, leaving misery in its place. Almost instantly, Kat knew what it was. A Dementor. They had read about dementors in their 6th year. While Gilderoy was being a complete fool, Kat spent their time in their Library researching whatever they could get their hands on. They even taught themself how to produce the spells, spending extra time on the patronus charm
