The clock on the wall read 08:47am; They would have to get changed for another trip to Diagon Alley. They were resting in the lounge room with their sisters. Their mother went out drinking again, and so she left Kat to babysit. Again. The young girls looked nothing like their older sibling. They had bright green eyes, long wavy red hair, and the most innocent smile. Blake and Savannah were sitting on the floor with their colouring books and "The Little Mermaid" playing in the background. A small beeping sound echoed through the house, alerting Kat that the breakfast they had prepared was ready.

'Blake, Sav, come wash your hands. It's time for lunch.' Kat called over to the girls who, in a brief time span, discarded their colouring books and had their full attention on the TV.

'But Ariel is on,' Savannah said, pushing her hair back. 'I wanna watch all of it first,' she continued.

'Please Kat, can we watch it all?' asked Blake, shifting in her seat.

'Girls, you can finish the film later. We have things to do.' Kat sat down at the dinner table, carrying their own plate to the table. 'Quickly girls, before it gets cold and yucky.'

Savannah and Blake dragged themselves to the sink to wash their hands before taking their seats at the table with their food.

A little while later, they had all finished their brunch; Kat had dressed the girls into matching short sleeve floral t-shirts and mustard skirts finished with a pair of black strappy sandals. Eventually, Kat settled the girls on their bedroom floor with colouring books and pencils to give themself time to get ready. They picked out a matching grey skirt and blazer, along with a thin black vest and paired it with black thigh high-heeled boots, a fine golden necklace, and a pair of sunflower petal earrings. Once they had done a little makeup, it was 10:08am. So they grabbed everything they needed and started on their way to the train station, with Blake and Savannah on either side.

When they got to the Leaky Cauldron four and a half hours later, Blake and Savannah were beyond excited to visit Diagon Alley again. They adored the magicality of it. It seemed like something wasn't right when stepping into Diagon Alley. The place was ram-packed as usual but there was an unusual tension filling the air that unsettled them.

Kat noticed a bunch of posters plastered to the walls around Diagon Alley. 'HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WIZARD?' they all read, paired with the face of mass murderer Sirius Black. Kat had heard about him all throughout the break. 'I thought he was a muggle, though?' 'Obviously not, you idiot,' Kat thought. Kat and the twins went into a lot of shops. After quickly stopping at Madam Malkin's so that they could get their uniform resized, they left to go to Kat's favourite shop in the Wizarding world. Flourish and Blotts, the sign read; after about 10 minutes of searching the bookshop, Kat finally found one of two required books for their final year at Hogwarts which was The Standard Book of Spells, Grade 7 by Miranda Goshawk and The Essential Defence Against the Dark Arts by Arsenious Jigger.

Technically, that was all that was needed since all the other supplies had already been bought, however Kat being Kat decided they would find some fresh books to read as they had read all the books they owned. After spending another 15 minutes in the shop, Blake and Savannah wandered off to the other side of the store to the children's book section when Kat suddenly felt a presence behind her. As if on instinct, Kat spun around in their spot, reaching for their rowan wood wand, stumbling back as they did so.

'Careful there, you might hurt yourself,' the mystery man said, gently catching them up with one hand. 'It would be such a shame to ruin that pretty face of yours.'

'Weren't you ever taught not to sneak up on people, sir?' Kat responded without hesitation, tucking their wand back into their belt. 'I could've injured you.'
