Prologue

     Kat Jefferson rested upon their window sill enveloped by warm throw blankets and fluffy cushions engrossed in their favourite book 'Of Mice & Men' with the calm humming from the electrical fan and the slight mumbling of lyrics to their favourite song drowning out the silence. Their beige skin shining under the silver glare of the full moon that gleamed through the slit between the curtains.  
     It was another sleepless night in the Jefferson home. Something in the back of their head kept them awake and alert. Whether it's their thoughts or their wish to finish a book. The full moon kept Kat awake often, as if it meant something.
     They knew this year would be different.

     Unbeknownst to them, Remus Lupin was in the same predicament. At 5:43am, he was only just getting back to his cottage after a torturous. Not knowing that 20 minutes away, Kat had suffered the same. The night was unpleasant. By the time Remus woke up from his unconscious state that morning, he felt different. The creature in the back of his head had been tamed.
     At the end of the last term, Dumbledore reached out to him. He had requested for him to be the Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor. It had taken some convincing, but he had complied with some hesitance.
     He knew this year would be different.
