This is a modern au I guess, its also based off the Stratford Upon-Avon leisure centre if you're wondering

nothing from the show btw, none of the plot, not a canon birthday btw idk when that is so I felt like making it the same as my birthday yknow

Max's pov:

Oh boy, its my birthday, July 9th. I can only imagine how this will go. We were currently in Britain as El had wanted to see her birth mother again and Mike suggested going on holiday with everyone. We agreed and now im staying in this massive, massive house with loads of people. To list them it is El, Lucas, Dustin, Will, Mike, Erica, Nancy, Holly, Robin, Steve, Eddie, Johnathon, Argyle, Joyce, Hopper, Mike's mom, Lucas's mom, Dustin's mom and my mom as well. I could hear talking downstairs as I stretched my arms above my head. Right as I was about to stand up the door slowly opened. I looked over to see brown curly hair peeking into the room before I met Dustin's eyes. "Oh hey you're awake! Happy birthday!" Dustin said walking into the room, Will, Erica and Holly followed him, all greeting me with a happy birthday.

"Thanks" I said sitting up in my bed as they came and sat with me. I picked up Holly and sat her on my lap as she hugged me, Will awed before joining the hug as well. Dustin did and dragged Erica along with him who begrudgingly agreed to it. They all let go as a silence ghosted over us. "Any particular reason you were coming to check on me?" I ask.

"Your mum asked us to come check on you, El wanted to come but she was busy so we said wed check if you're awake and then tell you to come down" Will explained.

"Oh ok, I'll come down now I just need to grab like a hoodie or something" I say standing up. I walk to the draws next to the window and pick out my red hoodie, I pulled it over my head and grabbed some socks and put them on before following the others downstairs.

I got down the steps to see everyone else already awake and in their own little groups. I scanned the room for one person and after a few seconds of searching my eyes landed on my mum in the kitchen. As soon as I saw her she turned around and smiled brightly as she saw me. "Maxine!" She shouted slightly. I tried hiding my smile but ultimately failed as we walked to each other and she hugged me. "Happy birthday baby" She said kissing the top of my head as I smiled in response. She nodded her head towards the dining room before saying "We're getting breakfast ready now if you want to go sit down" She said kissing my head one more time before walking back to the kitchen.

I walked to the dining room and walked through the doorway to see Lucas and Erica bickering as El was snickering at them with Will. Mike was sat next to Will on his phone and Dustin was ranting about something to Eddie and Steve as Robin was talking about a film to Nancy. Robin looked up quickly and said "Oh hey Max" Before going back to her conversation. She did a double take before quickly jumping up and hugging me "Sorry my child, happy birthday" she said spinning my around.

"Ok, ok chill Robin" I said as she put me back down.

"Sorry, happy birthday" She said with a sheepish smile as I smiled in response.

"Thank yo-" I was going to finish my sentence before I felt someone jump on me. I looked to see El with her arms around my neck as she was stood next to me slightly after I had nearly fallen over. "Well hello to you too" I said jokingly as she kissed my cheek.

"Happy birthday" She whispered.

"Thank you darling" I whispered back. Robin awed before going back to her seat. I rolled my eyes and sat on the other side of El as she went back to her seat from before. I ended up being opposite of Lucas who smiled and waved at me quickly mouthing happy birthday before arguing again with Erica. I got a nod from Steve as I nodded in response.
