"CAN YOU HAND me that and will you stop laughing," Eunice said while preparing all the things she needs for the whole trip.
"It's just funny that the one and only Audrey Eunice Lim is going to spend her whole three months in Mindanao of all places on Earth." Ashlea's said laughing.
"Anong masama doon? Mindanao is rich in culture." Zeron droned looking bored.
"I know but...Isn't like Mindanao a kagubatan and I heard maraming aswang daw in there."
"Oh, talaga?" Zeron asked in a sarcastic tone, looking interested in what Ashlea is saying.
"Of course, wala nga daw sila yatang mga kuryente doon at ang mas lalong nakakatakot ay maraming mga terroristang nagkalat sa paligid."
Then Zeron's deep raspy voice echoed inside the room as he laugh.
"What's so funny about what I said? All of it is true as a matter of fact, hmp."
"You and your stereotypes." Eunice pointed out. "Ashlea we're in the goddamn 21st Century."
"Ash, it's not that your not right but the 'kagubatan at maraming aswang' and the 'wala silang kuryente doon' gets me to tears." Zeron trying hard to stop laughing.
"And our military forces are handling the tension well in those conflict areas in Mindanao," Eunice added convincing Ashlea.
"Okay, okay, so I'm wrong," Ashlea grunted with an eye-roll.
"It's really crystal clear that you are one of those ignorant rich girls of Manila."
Ashlea immediately turned to Zeron when she heard what he said, her jaw clenched and her eyes blazed with fire.
"Huh! ignorant." Ashea chuckled then suddenly. "You asshole how dare you call me ignorant." She roared.
Zeron paled and at the speed of light, he quickly run out of the room like a tiny prey followed by a fuming mad Ashlea.
"Si sir talaga sobrang mapagbiro," Nana said holding her laugh.
"Okay, that is so funny. Ngayon dad sabihin mo na kung aling city ako magbabakasyon."
But Mr.Lim's face is showing no hint of humor at all.
"Dad," Eunice cleared her throat. "Your... joking, right?"
"No."
"Dad... this can't be seriou---"
"Before you go rampaging again, open your ears first for what we're gonna say." Her mom said in a calm tone.
Eunice nod.
"You know that Nana is taking a vacation leave yearly, right?" Her mom mentioned. "But it usually only lasts for more than a week.
"Now she's gonna be out of the house for about three months because you'll gonna be spending your whole summer with her in her hometown." Eunice's mom explained.
She gasped but a single word didn't leave her mouth.
"When we said that you need a break from the spotlight, this is what we meant. Nana's hometown is gonna be the perfect definition of a breath of fresh air for you. It's different from the noisy sound of the city, the parties, clubs, and especially your not gonna hear the nonstop shutter of dozens of cameras in there." Mr.Lim Elaborated.
