Black; bittersweet,
When the strong aroma met the burning heat,
With a teaspoon of sugar underneath,
You slide down my tongue and slip through my teeth.
I can't help but drink each and every drop,
At times I avoided and even tried to stop,
But as I got deeper, as I counted all the cups,
I fumbled and begged for more, bottoms-up.
Of all the things I could get into,
Of all the drinks I have sipped through,
And amongst all the reasons I could choose,
You are my coffee, my escape from the truth.
