Awake

SAGE'S POV

I felt somebody rubbing my back which set me off again, I didn't want anybody to touch me all it reminded me of was our foster father.

I sat up from my bed but I had quickly forgotten that one of my arms and legs were restrained. "DON'T FUCKING TOUCH ME" I yelled into Viviane's face, which made her jump back in surprise, she grabbed her stomach tightly for some reason as if she was in pain, but I didn't care at this moment I just wanted to be alone.

She came towards me again which made me even more furious, I started kicking her and she looked at me sympathetically before continuing to try and grab my arm that wasn't restrained.

VIVIANE'S POV

I saw Sage kicking her legs around and screaming, I knew she was trying to act hard but I could see straight through her act. She was just scared and is still that little girl that I knew before.

I walked over to her carefully and grabbed her leg that she was trying to kick me with and tried to hug her, she was flailing her arm and leg around but I didn't let go.

"Get off me!" She cried while trying to keep her face away from me as if she was protecting her self.

I didn't know what else to do so I began rubbing her back, still holding onto her firmly.

She began to calm down and her anger turned into cries, as I felt my shirt begin to get wet from tears.

"I'm sorry I left you" I whispered salty tears rolling down my face.

"I hate you" she said so quietly I almost missed it. My heart shattered into a thousand pieces but I already knew this.

"I know" I croaked still holding onto her now shivering body.

After a few minutes I let go of her arms so she had a choice of moving away from me which is what she did.

"I'm suppose to be dead" is all she said avoiding eye contact with me.

"Why am I still here" she said glancing at me for less than a second before going back to playing with her fingers.

"I um-" I paused trying to think of a way of telling her.

"What" she said more harshly, to make it clear she was getting impatient.

"I gave you some of my liver" I said looking at her in the eyes, I didn't expect a thank you but I didn't realise how broken she really was until now.

"You should of let me die." She paused before continuing. "I want Harper here" she told me, in a more demanding tone.

I waited for a moment before taking a deep breath and getting my phone out.

I clicked on Luke's number and waited for him to pick up while I tapped my fingers on the table next to Sage's bed.

"Hey did she wake up?" He asked as I heard Harper In the background asking him something that I couldn't quite catch.

"Yeah she wants to see Harper, could you do me a favour and drop her off at the hospital for me?" I asked quickly glancing over at Sage who was staring at me, she turned her head as soon as our eyes made contact.

"Of course we will be twenty minutes see you in a bit" he said before ending the call leaving me once again alone with Sage.

"Are you hungry?" I asked her after a few silent moments.

She looked at the time and back at me "no I don't eat lunch" she said reaching over for her old battered iPod.

"You haven't eaten anything in a day, how about a yogurt?" I said, but she ignored me continuing to tap on her iPod.

I walked over taking her iPod out of her hand which made her look at me in shock.

"give me that back you have no right!" She yelled at me with a pissed expression.

"I have all the rights I'm your mother" I replied giving her a stern look.

"You have no rights over my items, you didn't buy it my dad did so your technically stealing from him!" She yelled even louder while going bright red.

"Well if that's technically stealing then he stole you girls from me!" I said raising my voice slightly.

"You didn't even WANT us in the first place!" She screamed her voice breaking.

"YOUR FATHER WAS A DICK HE TOOK AWAY EVERY RIGHT I HAD TO SEE YOU BY MOVING!" I yelled slamming my hands down on the table, which she jumped and froze for a second. Before turning her face to look out the window.

I covered my mouth before moving towards her "I'm sorry I didn't mean that, I got lost in the moment" I said softly before reaching out to put my hand on her shoulder.

She flinched away from me. I was about to speak again when the door banged open and Harper ran in.

"SAGE" she screamed before jumping onto her bed, Sage hissed in pain before wrapping her hands around her little sister.

"Harper be careful!" Luke said carrying Ollie inside the room as he smiled and waved at Sage.

"I missed you please don't die" harper said sobbing into Sages chest.

"Never ever" she said stroking Harper's hair back.

"Daddy said we have to be there for each other and you almost died" she said smacking Sage on the arm still hugging her.

My heart melted to see how close their bond was, I felt sadness towards how Sage had to raise Harper and I never had the chance for either of them.

"Are you okay?" Sage asked harper pushing her chin up with her two fingers to make harper look at her.

"Yeah but they made me eat green peas" harper said pretending to gag.

"It's okay you don't have to anymore" is all Sage replied with, and looked up at me and gave me a dirty look before looking back down at harper who was still snuggled up to her.
