"that keycard opens the door, but unfortunately, the russian with this keycard also has a massive gun. whatever's in this room, whatever's in those boxes, they really don't want anybody finding it." dustin explained, he was pacing back and forth while steve, robin, and i sit down in the break room listening to him.

"but there's gotta be a way in." robin said.

"well, you know... i could just take him out." steve said, robin and i share a look.

"what?" i ask.

"take who out?" robin asked.

"the russian guard." steve said, robin and i have the exact same look, trying to hold in laughter. steve noticed our looks,"what? i sneak up behind him, i knock him out, and i take his keycard. it's easy."

"did you not hear the part about the massive gun?" dustin asked.

"yes, dustin, i did. and that's why i would be sneaking." steve said.

"ah." dustin hummed. "well, please, tell me this, and be honest, have you ever actually... won a fight?" dustin asked, steve rolled his eyes.

"okay, that was one time—" steve said, dustin cut him off.

"twice. jonathan. year prior?"

"listen, that doesn't count." steve said.

"why wouldn't it? because it looks like he beat the shit out of you." dustin said, robin and i lightly chuckle.

"it was..."

"you got a fat lip, crooked nose, swollen eye, a lot of blood..."

"...things that all add up...."

"that just might work." robin said, getting up and going to the front, she took all the tips, and ran out.

"robin." steve called.

"robbie." i called.

"hey, robin! hey, what— what are you doing?" steve asked.

"i need the cash." robin said.

"well, some of that's mine and y/n's. where're you going?" steve asked.

"to find a way into that room, a safe way. and i'm the meantime, sling ice cream, behave, and don't get beat up. i'll be back in a jiff." robin shouted, running away with our tips.

i look over at steve and dustin, dustin was licking ice cream off steve's ice cream scooper, "oh, dude." steve said, snatching it from him. "come on, man, not my scooper." he said, putting it back.

"at least, wash it." i say.

"it is fascinating what twenty bucks will get you at the county recorder's office. starcourt mall." robin said, laying out the blue prints of the mall. "the complete blueprints."

"not bad." dustin said.

"good job." i say.

robin smiles,"so, this is us, scoops, and this is where we want to get." robin said, pointing on the map.

"i mean, i don't really see a way in." steve said.

"there's not, if you're talking exclusively about doors." robin said, ripping off the map we were looking at and replacing it with a more detailed one.

"air ducts." dustin said.

"exactly. turns out, this secret room needs air just like any old room. and these air ducts lead all the way...." robin said, drawing the path way with a marker. "here." she said, we all looked at the vent we have in the break room.
