Kate the Chaser (last name Milens or Hayes) is the unseen protagonist in Slender: The Arrival and the secondary antagonist in Slender: The Arrival.

In Slender: The Eight Pages, Kate is the (unseen) player-controlled character. The Arrival, according to Slender: As children, Kate and her friend CR had a habit of going into the forest with a flashlight in hand (thus why the player starts with the flashlight at the beginning of the game). They would intentionally frighten themselves for fun.

According to one of the notes, he became disoriented in the dark after hearing Kate scream. He became disoriented and ended up at Kate's house, where she was sitting in the living room. CR tried unsuccessfully to get her attention and went home.

From Kate's perspective, Slender Man chased Kate around the forest as she found notes on various landmarks.

Kate and her friend, CR, used to go "ghost hunting" in the woods before the game was created. They'd have hallucinations and run back to Kate's house. Kate was discovered a few years later with a broken video camera, flashlight, and a stash of strange drawings. She was quickly taken to a psychiatric ward and tested. She tried to explain to the doctors, but they refused to listen.

Kate was considered stable a few years after the traumatic experience and was returned to her home. She spent her time with her mother, who died suddenly for unknown reasons. Kate soon began to see Slender Man again and began to draw him more frequently.

Kate and Lauren were childhood friends, and the two of them would often play on the swing set outside her house. This is what motivates Lauren to investigate Kate's disappearance in the first place, putting her in mortal danger as the Slender Man begins attempting to kill her.

In Chapter 4: Flashback, a video shows Kate drawing Slender Man and muttering, "He's here!" She tried everything she could to barricade the doors, but Slender Man was already inside, and she desperately tried to flee to her room.

Slender Man was right behind her, and as soon as she noticed him in her room, she is either thrown out of her closed window by Slender Man, or she leaped through it in a desperate attempt to escape. Lauren is perplexed at the end of the tape.

Kate runs to the woods after fleeing from the video on the day the game takes place, but she is apprehended by Slender Man. She shrieked as loudly as she could, causing Lauren to hear her from afar. Lauren rushes to the location of the scream, only to find nothing and become stranded near Oakside Park, where she is captured and teleported to various locations.

Kate is soon discovered chasing Lauren through the Kullman mining shafts. At this point, Kate has become Slender Man's proxy, known as "The Chaser." It's unclear what happened to her, but she now appears feral, wears a mask, and has a black substance around her eyes and mouth, as well as very pale skin, possibly as a result of her time in the mines.

Her hoodie and hands are also heavily stained with blood; the source of the blood is unknown. Her eyes appear to be extremely light-sensitive. When Lauren directs her flashlight's beam at her face, she becomes dazed. She appears to snarl and growl as well. She pursues Lauren until she finally gets on the elevator and escapes.

Lauren is knocked out by a proxied Charlie Matheson Junior in Chapter 5: The Arrival. Lauren awakens in the same room as him. Charlie vanishes after picking up a book, and Kate's sobbing can be heard. Lauren comes across a normal Kate (unmasked and unhooded, as well as severely burned) crying in a corner.

Lauren approaches Kate, only for her to revert to the Chaser and kill Lauren. Lauren's limp body is dragged away by Charlie, Slender Man, or Kate in the game's final shot.
