SHE SAT on the couch in her apartment. An older video of Seth's played on her tv as she worked on her computer. Remington searched up the Sallie House. She'd heard of it before and the stories that went with it, but she hadn't heard them in awhile. She decided to brush up on her research before telling Colby she would fly back to Kansas.

Her and Paisley could both go. They still had family in Kansas, an aunt and uncle in Lansing. It happened to be close to Atchison, where the Sallie House was.

Remi sighed, placing her laptop next to her on the couch as she got up. She knocked on Paisley's bedroom door, her hand resting on the doorknob.

"Come in," Paisley called and Remington opened the door. The eldest James daughter sat on the edge of her sister's bed. Paisley set her phone down.

"So, I wanted to talk to you. Colby invited me to go investigate in Kansas. I was thinking, I could stop and see Aunt Elise and Uncle Chris," Remington explained. Her sister nodded her head in acknowledgment. "Do you want to go? If we're lucky, Stella will be visiting from college and you can stay with them while I'm with the boys.

"I know you didn't like investigating last time you went. I would only be thirty minutes away and you know you can call me if you need. So, what do you say?"

Paisley licked her lips, "When would we leave?"

"Tomorrow. It's about a three and a half hour flight."

"Spontaneous trip, I like it. Let's do it."

The two girls smiled at each other. Remington mumbled a soft "okay," before leaving her sister's room, closing the door behind her. She grabbed her phone from the couch to text her aunt and when she got an answer, Remington texted Colby.

there while i'm with you guys.
