Savannah decided to stay out of the Mystic Falls drama as much as she can. She needs the plot to go the exact same or as close as it can be for her to have her advantage of foreknowledge. She can't play god and decide who lives and dies but she'll be damned if she doesn't try. After the car wash she made plans to leave.
With the help of Damon's compulsion and an automotive store, she went to go find her sister before she gets into Shane's back pocket.
If she's right, Hayley doesn't meet Shane until after Niklaus breaks his curse and sires his first hybrids. Logically she's got the timeline down to a T but she could be wrong about the dates at any point, the show hadn't gone into great detail on the background between the Professor and Hayley.

Savannah spent weeks on the road practicing magic with witches and searching for packs, but she still kept up with Damon and Caroline over the phone. Her warnings were always taken seriously by Damon. He listened to every word.
Caroline had listened as well. Her mother's scans showed a small tumor in her brain, but luckily it was able to be operated on. The day of surgery was the only time that Savannah had come back in support of Caroline and her mother. It brought back a lot of memories of Kara's mother and how she had died of cancer when she was a little younger than Caroline is now. The doctor had told them that she would need a few months of chemo to make sure it didn't come back and that they were lucky they found it when they did. Because of the spot that the tumor was in, if it had grown even a little more it would have been inoperable. One month's time and it would have been terminal.
