Father calls Bruno downstairs to have a chat. Father and Mother are sitting in the living room. Bruno comes downstairs and feels the energy in the room, it's not really pleasant.
"Have a seat Bruno" Father says in a stern voice. Bruno obeys and sits down on the couch across from them. It gets awkwardly silent for a moment.
"What were you doing in the camp?" Father asks. "I-I was just exploring" Bruno exclaims.
"Your Father and I have told you that your not allowed exploring behind the gates. And you still disobeyed us!" Mother was not having it. Bruno knew that he's toast.
"Mother I'm sor-" Bruno gets interrupted by his Father, "Where did you get those pyjamas Bruno?"
At this point Bruno knew that he's in deep trouble, so decides to act puzzled of what his Father just said. "What pyjamas?" Bruno said in a confused voice, knowing what pyjamas his Father meant.
Father wasn't buying it, "Bruno, where did you get the pyjamas? I am not going to repeat myself" he says in a booming voice.
Bruno is thinking of what to say in response, but he's scared of mentioning his secret friend. Time is ticking and Bruno is trying to come up with something.
"I- I found them outside of the fence and there was a hole that was dug under. And I saw some people wearing the same pyjamas walking around. I didn't want to reveal myself because I was exploring, so I put the pyjamas on and crawled under the fence" Bruno says out of fear.
Father gets curious when Bruno mentioned that there was a hole dug under the fence. "How could one of the the prisoners escape?" Father thought to himself
"Very well then. No more exploring from now on. And I mustn't hear anymore complaints" Father says in a serious voice.
"But Father-"
"Bruno" he says slowly, "end of discussion. Now then, I must go make a important phone call". Father walks out of the living room and goes into his office
"Bruno you heard your Father, no more exploring" Mother says while taking a sip of her medicinal sherries.
"Ok Mother" Bruno rolls his eyes out of frustration.
"Very well then, now go help Maria with the dishes".
