Biyernes.

It's kuya Henry's birthday!

Ngayon ay naririto kami sa isang hotel na ni-rent ng family ni kuya at tumulong kami nina papa sa pag-aayos although pinagbawalan na kami ng family in laws namin na tumulong, nag-insist pa rin kami ni papa.

So here we are.

I'm helping papa cook kuya Henry's favorite homemade dish which is kaldereta, pinakbet and laing na specialty ni papa.

Tita Henrietta, kuya Henry's mother, approved the dish. Tinikman nilang mag-asawa ang luto ni papa at mabuti na lang at walang allergic reaction ang dalawa pagdating sa laing dahil iyon 'yung pinapak nila ng bonggang-bongga.

Heto kami sa kusina ng hotel, maraming mga chef at server ang pabalik-balik dito para ihanda ang buffet para sa birthday party ni kuya. Super duper naeexcite ako dahil ngayon lang ulit ako makakaranas ng engrandeng selebrasyon.

Iyong una ay ang wedding reception nina ate. And I'm telling you, it cost millions! As in super cute ang motif ng wedding nina kuya sabayan pa ng pink and cerulean colors which made the celebration really alive and magical.

Waking up from my thoughts, I helped papa chopped ingredients and stir kaldereta while he's preparing for pinakbet. It's just a simple dish consist of sitaw, talong, kalabasa and many more gulay. Papa also mixed small shrimps to make it tastier.

While I was humming a happy tune to myself, I got a notification from my phone inside the pocket of my denim jeans.

It was from Hypnos.

I stopped what I was doing for a moment and leaned on the counter top. For days, I've been distracting him with pick-up lines and jokes I learned from various sources. I can't believe he hasn't blocked me yet because of my corniness which I really appreciate.

Siguro kilig na kilig talaga siya hindi lang niya maamin dahil nahihiya siya. Well, inamin niya. Which is really surprising. I didn't think that he would be a guy who will confess if he's kinikilig or whatsoever.

Ah basta.

Hypnos: Yes, were invited.

He replied.

Tinanong ko kasi siya kung invited ba silang magpapamilya or not. Looks like I'll be meeting my parent-in-law hihi. I was about to type when another message popped up.

Hypnos: why do you ask?

Adira: wala lang:) im jst so happy I'll be meeting my future boyfriend's parent funny coincidence right?

Adira: or not. Baka tinadhana talaga tayo para sa isat isa David

Chuckling at myself for using his second name, I returned helping my father who fortunately, didn't notice me giggling creepily at my phone. He was very busy perfecting his specialties. He almost defeated these professional chefs by being very careful with every seasoning he put in the pinakbet.

Minsan iniisip ko na lang na binibilang niya kada piraso ng grain of salt bago ilagay sa mga niluluto niya to have that malinamnam na taste. I wonder why he didn't pursue being a chef. My papa could literally pass as a very handsome chef.

"Pakiabot ng paminta 'nak."

Agad kong inabot mula sa Taas ng kabinet ang lagayan ng paminta at binigay kay papa.
