"Ugh... I don't get it, why isn't it changiiing..." America grunted before pacing into his dorm's living room, trying to figure out the reason he couldn't just switch out the wish in Russia's head.
He plopped down on the couch. "I want it to chaaaaange..."The door opened.
"What do you wanna change?" said Russia, who just came back from his classes and was already locking the door.
America looked around in panic before stuttering the beginning of a sentence.
"Well...well uhm..." He opened his phone. "My lock screen! It's an old photo of my brothers and me but I'm... you know, tired of it so I want to change it."That TOTALLY was a lie, as this photo was very recent and he was very much not displeased by it.
"Why don't you do it then?" Russia put his coat on the hanger, and made his way to America, with two bags of groceries, looking down at the phone.
"I don't have another pic to put there in its place, so...yeah I'm struggling. What's all of this?"
He was not able to keep this conversation and not make it weird so he was gonna do what he can do best, changing subjects!"Oh, we finished a bit early so I figured I could buy some stuff for cooking tonight, or what we missed. Sorry I took your shopping list this morning," he put a hand in his pocket and handed America a neatly folded piece of paper. "There you go. I figured I'd get your stuff too."
The American couldn't help but stare.
"Sorry if that was a bit excessive, I just wanted to help and I'm sorry if it bot-" America put a hand on Russia's mouth. "It's great! Thanks Rus!"
"It's even like super nice! Nobody did that for me except for my mom." America continued, while Russia scratched the back of his head. He gave America a little smile.
"This is gonna sound anticlimactic, because you just bought ingredients but would you like to order something and then watch something on Netflix? I'm craving sushi right now. There's this one restaurant Japan recommended to me and it sounds like the best place EVER. I just wanna eat everything on the menu I swear. Look man."
The Russian put the bags on the wooden floor and sat down on the couch to give a closer look at America's phone. As the American scrolled, Russia observed some things that looked absolutely delicious. He hummed and approved with a nod. "Okay, no problem."
America's arms flew in the air. "Let's GOOOOOO ! Thanks Ruski! Can I give you a hug?" The Russian barely got the word "sure" out that he felt two arms craddling him. Both his hands made their way up America's back to softly tap them. The american looked up at him and smiled.
"You know what Rus, we should take a picture together to celebrate sushi time. It could replace my lockscreen! My brothers' pic will make its way to the one and only gallery. You'll be the masterpiece Rusky!" Russia made a face. Most likely a face of distress. "Oh no...I hate pictures Meri, I look terrible in them, please don't do that."
"Nah that's not possible, you're gonna do your wattpad girl and look good on the pics we're gonna take man!"
Russia chuckled, America died a little bit inside. "Good luck with that impossible mission.""C'mere! I know how to do it!" America put his arm softly on Russia's shoulder and brought him next to him. He brought his phone up to their faces and looked at the tall blond. He squished himself close to his cheek, smiled and pressed on the shutter button of his iPhone. He released his friend after a while and looked at his new pictures.
"Oh my god..." America warmed up instantly inside. He loved those photos so much he wanted to print one and put it on his wall, but that was weird. Weird to do that for a pic with a friend. "You look SO weird on those, maybe you were right..."
"What?!! I knew it was a bad idea! How bad is it??"
America started giggling while putting a hand on his mouth. "Rus, it's a joke, you look real cute." He showed him his favorite picture before making it his wallpaper.
"Are you really going to show it to everyone? My face looks weird, look at my chin! Something's wrong." Russia looked at the phone intensely, he didn't seem to have heard America's last sentence.
"Quiet or I put it up on both my door AND walls." The slav frowned. "Now that's not cool, seeing how I look."
America flicked his forehead. "A real ol' dummie, aren't you?" America tilted his head and lifted his fingers towards Russia's cheek, before the slav briefly pronounced a few words."It's weird but...I feel like you know more about me, than I do about you, Meri." America looked up at his friend a bit confused, before Russia continued.
"You always look so enthusiastic and open to talking, you kind of always make small talk but it's pretty much it. You never talk about yourself or about what you really like. I want to learn about you a little, but I don't really know how to ask anything about it."The American put his head onto his hands before shrugging and looking away.
"It's not that interesting really. There's not much to say.""I'm sure there's something worth knowing. It's already fun to talk with you as it is." Russia scratched his head before his eyes lit up with an idea. "We could do something you like, maybe...maybe a party? If I'm allowed to stay back a little, so you can just have fun and show me how you make one."
"You're letting me throw a party in here?!" Russia nodded. "You know it's gonna reek of alcohol afterwards right?"
"Well, as long as it's not in my bed!"
