Now the ride was going smoothly, until it suddenly wasn't. You were awoken from your slumber the moment it came to a halt. It was sunrise and you could see a castle nearby. You went outside and immediately understood why you stopped.

One of the brothers had Charlotte and his weapon was pointed at Meier. She was struggling for some reason and you were about to go hug her when someone, or rather something jumped at them.

The Barbarois, a group of mercenary body guards hired by Meier Link.

They killed the brothers and you couldn't see Leila anywhere. You were planning an escape route when suddenly they looked at you. They jumped at you and one of them scratched your back badly. You were scared, thinking you were going to die but then D came riding on his horse.

He killed one of them, scooped you up and rode away in the forest.
It was silent until you decided to break it

"Thank you"

"I told you to stay out of this" He scolded softly.

"I'm sorry but Charlotte is like a sister to me, there was no way I was going to leave" you said.

"Did you see what I meant now?"

"Yes..." you started "However I still want to help any way I can"

He stayed silent and rubbed your back.

"You should rest, I'll fix your wounds"

And with that you fell asleep once again. Not realizing you were resting on his shoulder.
