When Rachel awoke in the morning, she was greeted by the sounds of the busy city just outside the window. She looked at her clock that read 6:30. But the streets and sidewalks were filled to capacity. But that was nothing unusual, it was the city that never sleeps. As she stared out into space, she was startled when her dad started pounding on her door.
"Get up.ITS MOVING DAY!" He said excited. Rachel got up out of bed, still wearing what she wore last night and opened the door. Her father stood there with a smile from ear to ear and big, brown, cardboard Home Depot boxes in hand. Great, Rachel thought. This was the happiest she had seen her dad in a long time which made her feel sad.
"Dad, you can't be serious." She said arms crossed while her dad fidgeted around with boxes. He stopped in his tracks.
"I'm 100% serious, you're leaving. You need to grow up and experience the reality of life." He said. Rachel shouldn't of been surprised, she figured as much as her dad yelled at her that one day he would want her gone. She just hadn't expected it. She always prayed that the day would never come but here it was. Frankly, Rachel was scared. She had no future, skills, hope, but above all she had no direction. How could she possibly find out where she belonged, is she doesn't even know who she is?
