It was a gloomy morning. I got up out of my soft bed, and made my way over to my mirror, footsteps padding against the cold floors. I look and see my reflection staring back at me. A pretty average teenage girl... with bright gold eyes and a secret.
You may be wondering how i got here..... well it's kind of a long story. It all starts in March of 1986. My first day at my new school, Hawkins High. I wake up that morning dreading the following hours. After I'm done putting on a little makeup and brushing out my messy dark brown hair, I put on a simple outfit. Jeans and a striped t-shirt. I glance at the clock before- Shit. I'm Late.
As I'm rushing to my first class and not paying attention to anybody, I accidentally run into a girl in a cheerleading outfit.
"Shit! I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" I say, putting my hand on her shoulder.
"No no no you're good! I should've been paying attention. Wait.. I haven't seen you before, are you new here?" Says the blonde.
"Um yeah... first day." I say while grinding my teeth.
"Your name is Julia right?" I nod while attempting my most convincing smile. "I'm Chrissy!!! It's so great to meet you!"
"Uh yeah! Great! Anyways, can you show me where room 304 is? I'm completely lost and this 'map' is no help."
"Of course! It's right down the hallway on your left!"
I thank Chrissy and walk away blissfully, feeling as if I've made my first friend. I hope it lasts.
----
The day drags on. I get Chrissy to show me where the rest of my classes are, but she ditches me at lunch to go sit with her boyfriend, Jason. Eating alone would be completely embarrassing, but I can't just sit with random strangers.
I look around the cafeteria, seeing that the students are divided into cliques. Jocks, band geeks, stoners, etc. Then I see a table on the right, with a bunch of guys wearing the same shirt. It looks to have some words on it, but I can't read it from here. There's a red devil thing on it, and a bunch of other ... weird art. As I'm staring, I see a guy who's in my third period. He has a torn red flannel on top of the matching t-shirt. His name was ... Adam? Maybe?
I walk closer to the table, seeing that the shirts say "Hellfire Club" on them. Adam looks at me first, then a shorter boy wearing a blue "Thinking Cap", and finally the tall, lanky boy with curly black hair. The "leader" doesn't seem to notice me.
"Hey, Adam is it? We have english together and I was just wondering if i could sit with you guys? The only girl I've talked to is sitting with her stupid boyfriend."
Adam looks stupid. I mean, honestly. He's just staring, then he looks to Hat Boy, who looks to the "leader".
"Who is interrupting the campaign planning that I have so gracefully put together?" The Leader says without looking up from his hands. He's playing with his rings. I begin to stare.
"Um.. my name is Julia? I'm new. I have no where else to sit..."
He snaps his head up. He looks at me with his big brown eyes and I see his entire face for the first time ever. Not to be dramatic, but he is the most beautiful man I have ever seen in my life. His long, wavy black hair and sharp jawline catch me off guard. As I'm trying to memorize as much of his face as I can, he interrupts me.
"Are you done staring, Julia? If you take a picture it'll last longer." His friends laugh, but all I can do is just stare. I bet I look like Adam right now.
