" 'Hi I need you to pick me up from a morgue and not ask me any questions', is a phone call I should get once in my life Link Nikolai Stankovic-Brenner do you realize that? Do you? That that should be a once in a lifetime conversation?" Greta is not happy. She's actively helping us load Harper's corpse into the back of her SUV, but she is not happy.
"I know I know I know I'm so sorry," I say, as I climb in the back after Lia and Josie.
"No, you clearly do not know anything where the fuck are we going with this please tell me you have a plan?" She asks, getting in the front.
"Drive up 6–we need you to get us as close to the ley line as you possibly can then we're going to carry him back to the intersection point, while the cops who will be following you keep following you we need to buy us time," Lia instructs, as she crouches on the other side of the body bag, Josie next to her, holding a tape deck.
"Okay, do I get to know what we're doing or is it a surprise for when I'm being arrested?" Greta growls.
"I'm gonna sum up so help me god you two—," I say, holding up a hand.
"I think you should know he fucked a demon," Lia says, immediately.
"Goddamnit Nick, you need to get religion. Just convert to a religion, I don't even care which one—,"
"The demon who took Harper's soul because Harper's father sold it to him, took Josie I was able to bargain to get him back because it thought Lia wouldn't come looking for us, but she did so we got to go free—,"
"Oh fuck don't bet on things with that demon you fucked, hell Nick—," Lia begins.
"—so Josie and I got free but now we have a way of getting Harper back for good," I say.
"Extremely quickly, how do you think you can do that if the demon has—his soul or whatever?" Greta asks.
"Because I had claim to his soul first, he said he would marry me, he promised to marry me so I technically have claim to it first and so if I complete a wedding ceremony on the ley line while the demon is distracted—," Lia says.
"That's me," I say.
"—then hopefully I can pull Harper's soul back," Lia says.
"That is—such a bad plan—back up to the part where he fucked a demon—,"
"It's fine I'm over it now we're not gonna talk about it again, basically good, here—this is the spot," I say, pointing.
"Goddamn it you three—,"
"We've got this, pull over," I say, I can hear sirens in the distance.

Lia
We unload the corpse, Nikolai is still strongest so he carries him, and together we hurry as fast as we can off the road and towards the ley line. Naturally, Greta speeds away to hopefully distract police. Hopefully for long enough.
Josie runs ahead, as we reach the intersection. The now all too familiar stand of trees. Josie starts dumping out candles, and I turn on the tape deck.
"All right, let's do this," Nikolai says, opening the body bag. Harper is in soft scrub pants, no shirt. His chest is sewed closed from where they cut him open. Nikolai lays a blanket we brought over Harper and lays him carefully in the grass. He looks so still, and peaceful compared to how we found him, and how the demon taking his form looks.
"Yeah, go ahead, go, stay safe this time, dumbass," I say, kissing Nikolai's cheek.
"See you on the other side," he winks, then he walks off into the trees.

Nikolai
I walk a decent distance away, then close my eyes, whistling three times, and stamping my foot. A basic summoning technique that should work because I had sex with the damn demon and apparently my friends aren't going to let me forget. I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't let them forget either. Also now that it's kind of been more than an hour it might be street cred I don't know I've never been on the street.
The demon appears immediately. Damn it, I wanted it to take us there. Well we're far enough away, we can do this here. That's all right.
"Well well, you and your friends think you can kill us," the demon cackles, "Do they know you're useless?"
"I mean definitely yes; they also know about us," I say, walking up and looping my arms around its neck.
"You want something," it whispers.
"Don't things ever want you for free?" I ask, "Maybe I want another bargain?"
"Terms?" it hisses.
"What have you got to offer me?" I ask, kissing its lips.
"Give me your firstborn. I'll give you unlimited wealth."
"Terrible deal for you, do not recommend, I'm gay as fuck and infertile. Pick again."
"You're Sebastian you don't make deals."
"I made one already," and had better never need another.
