Nayeli's pov
"Welcome!"
A man in a black suit accosts me as I barely step foot in the building.
I give him a quick smile, which he returns, and he hands me a badge that I put around my neck.
"This is your badge for the duration of your contract, it opens the entrance gates, gives you access to the cafeteria and so on. But we'll explain that in more detail later. Take the elevator and go to the sixth floor, we'll be waiting for you there."
I thanked him, although confused. He hadn't even asked my name and my picture wasn't on the badge so how did he know who I was.
I didn't think any more about it and walked through the gates, going to the elevator that was a little further away. Just as the doors close, someone puts their foot down at the last moment, making them open again.
I frown at first, but my face relaxes when I see that it was the man I had bumped into the day before.
He smiles at me, seeming to recognize me, and I smile back.
"You again? I'm going to start believing it's fate" he said with a laugh, a laugh I shared with him.
I felt like I'd heard that laugh before but couldn't figure out where.
"Maybe this is it after all.."
He smiles at me and is about to press one of the buttons on the elevator but stops when he sees it already on, a sign that I had just pressed it.
"6th floor you too? Well, fate is good..."
We both laughed again as the elevator started to go up.
Once we are on our floor and the doors are open, he moves me past him, letting me out.
I frown as I see one of my clients facing me. It was the man who had advised me to go into modeling.
"You..."
He laughs as he holds out his hand, which I shake still confused.
"Michael...manager of Asher Reed" He said with a proud smile.
"Oooh Asher Reed, wow I feel like I hear his name more than anyhing else."
They both laugh as they look at each other and I arch an eyebrow.
"Asher! There you are! Oh great you're with Nayeli, perfect we'll get started!" Pitches a voice a little further away.
"Asher?"
I turn my head to the man I had just gotten on the elevator with. Was he the great Asher Reed?
It looked like he had read my mind because he winked at me and smiled, completely different from the smiles we had exchanged so far.
