Y/n went to sleep at 4am and then had to wake up at 6:30am for work. She was tempted to call Mason and ask if she could work from home, but she'd be out of the office a majority of the day since the search warrants would be given to her this afternoon and she'd be out and about. So with a sluggish body, she took a shower and got changed, ready to go to work and then leave the second she gets the call for the search warrants.
She arrived at the normal time she does, just before 8am. Y/n didn't get coffee this morning since she almost fell asleep in the shower and that cut off some of her time. So she knows she has to make one at the small kitchen they have on their floor. Y/n rode up the elevator and stepped out onto their floor and gave Jennie a tired smile, making the cat eyed woman worried seeing her lacking so much energy. Jennie didn't even say anything to y/n as she got up from her desk and silently followed her into her office.
Y/n heard footsteps following her and she knew they were Jennie's, so she just put everything on her desk and shrugged off her blazer because she was already tired of it. Y/n felt Jennie place her hand on her arm, turning her towards her. Jennie looked at y/n's face and frowned seeing the bags under her eyes, telling her she didn't get a lot of sleep.
"What kept you up?" Jennie asked her friend quietly as she looked her in the eyes. Y/n sighed and just answered with a vague response,
"Just the case I'm working on." Jennie furrowed her eyebrows at that answer because she has never seen y/n so overworked for a case. Sure y/n has her moments, but she's never this bad. Jennie knew something was up,
"What case did you even take?" Y/n sighed,
"One that'll probably end up killing me." Y/n grumbled as she did a long blink to refocus her eyes before brushing past Jennie to leave her office. She needed that cup of coffee because it felt like her knees would give out on her at any given moment. Jennie caught her wrist,
"Please look after yourself still. I know it's a case that seems to be important to you, but don't put it above yourself." Y/n nodded her head, knowing she wasn't going to take Jennie's advice at all. And she knew that Jennie knew she wasn't going to take it, hence the sigh the shorter woman let out. But she didn't stop y/n from leaving again and y/n finally went into the small kitchen to make herself a coffee with enough caffeine in it to kill an elephant. Y/n stirred her coffee around briefly before hearing a pair of footsteps approaching her. She took a big sip of coffee, hoping that'll wake her up enough to have a normal conversation with whoever this person was behind them.
"Miss Kim seems to be worried about the workload of this case you took." Mason's voice said from behind y/n. Y/n let out a giant eye roll before composing herself and turning around to look at the man. He scanned her face and saw the level of exhaustion present in her features.
"I'll be fine, Mason. Just got hit with a lot of information from Jungkook when I went to the holding facility yesterday." Y/n said quietly, not needing people to hear since this was a classified case. Mason nodded his head,
"I understand, but don't take everything he said to heart, you know that," Mason said as y/n just forced out a chuckle because that's exactly what she was doing, "if the work becomes too much, I'll just have Sehun take over because he was also interested in this case when it first popped up. Or I could get another person since Sehun is working on a smaller case and might be busy."
"No, it's fine. I don't want to bother anyone and I already have information. Plus they'd just have to start from square one and everything. The hearing is next week, too." Y/n said as she took another sip of her coffee, already feeling more awake. Mason sighed,
"Alright, just know that some people are just guilty and there's no point in defending them. It's okay to lose this case." Mason said almost sympathetically to her, as if she was a little girl that didn't understand something. Y/n was rather offended because she never thinks that way about any case.
