"sh¡t." Eddie quickly runs over to the window that overlooks the house. "sh¡t, sh¡t, sh¡t, sh¡t." He comes running back and begins digging through my stuff.
"Eddie, what's happening?" I ask, now just as worried. Before I could get an answer for, Eddie we hear whispers outside.

"Dude, he's not here, seriously."
"Shut up and keep looking."

He quickly looks over at me and I can tell by the look on his face that he's panicking. He picks up the walkie and begins to quickly switch between the channels.
"Dustin? Please. Are... Are you there?" He whispers into the radio.
no response.
"Never mind." Eddie says before quickly running to the boat. He begins to untie it and lower it into the water. We hear the crunching of gravel nearby and he looks over at me.
My heart is racing, I can feel myself freezing up.
"Come with me." He says, grabbing me by the hand and putting me in the boat. He steps into the boat and pushes us away from the dock. The boat pulls into the water and is drawn through the lake.

"Y/n?" One of the boys, that were now standing at the edge of the water, questioned.
"Hey, freak! Where do you think you're going?" Jason says, and then makes eye contact with me. I look at Eddie and he's yanking the cord for the motor. I could tell his heart is beating rapidly, his chest was pumping up and down.

"Y/n.. whatever he's made you do.. it's okay. We aren't here for you, we're gonna help you." Jason says from the shore acting like he's a savior. Before I could think about what Jason had said. I hear loud thuds from behind me.

"sh¡t. Come on!" Eddie slaps the top of the motor. I look back at the shore and can see Jason talking to his friend.

"Just come on... You scared of some water?" I hear Jason question his friend from the shore. I watch as Jason and his friend quickly begin to get into the lake.

"Come on. you gotta help me out here, man." Eddie speaks to the motor as if it will sympathize our current state.
"Come on. Come on, you piece of sh¡t!"
Eddie continues to try and crank the boat but it barely sputters.
"Eddie!" his eyes turn to me, I get his attention away from the motor and hold out an oar. He looks at me and quickly takes the paddle from me.
"Goddamn it!" He shouts, slamming into the seat across from me. He shoves his paddle into the water and begins to push the boat.

I turn around and notice that Jason and his friend are quickly advancing on the boat,
"Hey, stay back, man! Stay back! Stay back!" Eddie takes his oar and stands up. He begins to jab the paddle at Jason. They both stop at a safe distance, far enough away that they won't get hit.

"Come on. We almost have him." Jason strains as he dodges the oar. I watch as the boy behind Jason suddenly disappears and is pulled under the water. I look up at Eddie and I can tell that he saw it too. His face quickly dropped in shock. Jason turns around to talk to his friend and noticed that he isn't there anymore.

"Hey, Patrick. Patrick! Patrick!" Jason yells while frantically looking for his friend.
seconds later, Patrick's body is lifted into the air. We all look up at it wide eyed.

"not again.." I whimper, tears already falling from my eyes. I look up at Eddie and he looks at me with a worried expression. He quickly takes his jacket off and covers my head with it, leaving me in darkness. I can feel his warm hands gently secure themselves over my ears.

very faintly, I can hear the sounds of Patrick's bones cracking and then a splash.

"PATRICK!" Jason yells before quickly swimming away from the now lifeless, crumpled body.

Seeing the open opportunity, Eddie picks up the oar and begins to paddle us to the opposite shore. The only thing I can hear now, being the soft ripple of the water and the thumping of my own heart.

After a minute or so I feel the bottom of the boat scrape against the mud. I feel Eddie step onto the ground and the boat rocks slightly. He leans over the edge of the boat and picks up the corner of his jacket.
"We need to get away from here." He says very calmly to me, as if nothing had just happened. I take a deep breath, I tuck his jacket under my arm and gently place my feet onto the ground. He grabs my hand and starts hiking into the woods.

After almost half an hour of us walking through the forest, we find a large rock that looks like a good place to rest. Eddie huffs and drops himself into the dirt. I gently sit down next to him and pull my knees to my chest. he looks at me and quickly takes the jacket and puts it around my shoulders. He takes one of my arms and grabs my hand.

"are you okay?" He asks again rubbing his thumb over the top of my hand.
I look up at him and he looks sad. I pull myself away and lay next to him.
"are you okay?" I asked back to him. He gives me a light smile but it quickly fades.
"Im scared." Eddie turned himself over on his back and began to look up at the stars.
"me too." I looked over at him and watched as the stars reflected in his eyes.

In that moment, I couldn't help it. The butterflies were back...
I quickly turned the other way to try and get the feeling to go away.

What's wrong?" He says sitting up and gently grabbing my arm.
"nothings wrong." I say nervously.

"y/n..." I turn over and see him looking at me, concerned. "Are you sure?"
he tilts his head to the side.
"Y-yeah, I'm just getting sleepy." I pulled his jacket up to my chest.
"Well, go ahead and get some sleep. I'm gonna try and get in touch with Dustin and see what we should do." Eddie starts to toy with the walkie resulting in sounds of static.

Trying to forget what had just happened, I closed my eyes and felt my body relax. I took a deep breath and felt myself drift away.
