prologue.

        scarlett's head was poking out the front-seat window as the cold breeze grazed her face. steven was driving and mom and belly were in the back.
scarlett turned up the radio as one of her favorite songs came on; you belong with me - taylor swift.
her and belly began singing their hearts out... "--WHY CANT YOU SEE! YOU BELING WITH ME!"
   they sang perfectly in unison, dragging out their words. "will you two please just not." steven groaned. mom agreeing. scarlett rolled her eyes before dialing down the volume and continuing to stare at the beautiful beaches of cousins thru the window.
cousins was scarlett's home. every year it's the one thing she looks forward to the most because it was really paradise. she got to live with her best friend, conrad, watch the sunrise, stay out late swimming, and her personal favorite,
party.
the conklin family arrived to the gas station and their mom sent belly and scarlett down to get a few snacks and drinks. "hey are you new?" a not so good-looking worker at the gas station asked scarlett. "no not really. im here every summer." she starred at her little sister with wide eyes and a smile going ear to ear while they both held in their laughter. "oh really, thought i'd known every pretty girl in cousins by now.." he trailed off. scarlett softly chuckled and belly walked around for snacks a bit more just to avoid who she thought was a creep for trying to hit on her big sister.  "you guys wanna come to the bonfire tonight?" he broke the silence. "oh uh, sure?" she mentally slapped herself after realizing her awful tone.
as the girls checked out their snacks and drinks, their mom came in rambling about some childhood memory. they gave their mom a look that said 'really mom? now?' which apparently was enough to make her stop. "see you later?" the worker asked. "what's later?"
"nothing mom!"

soon, the conklin family arrived to the famous summer house. immediately, scarlett stormed out and practically tackled conrad while steven and belly were with jeremiah. "hey cons" she said releasing from their hug and starring him in the eye. this made conrad go crazy on the inside. "hi lettie" he smiled. the nickname 'lettie' was only for conrad to call her and the nickname 'cons' was only for scarlett to call him.
"i missed you so much." scarlett said embracing the taller figure again. conrad smiled, glad that the one person who truly made him happy was back.
soon later scarlett ran to jeremiah.
"JERE!"
the two teens ran to each other. "look who came back all grown up!"

it was now time for the infamous
belly flop.

"i don't know bout' you but, i think it's time for a... BELLY FLOP!" the guys screamed, causing scarlett and belly to squirm and run away but they fail miserably. steven and jere toss in belly first while conrad tightly holds scarlett, keeping her from running away. though he could stop her from that he could not stop her from screaming. it was her turn now..
"NO. NO. NO. CONNIE I SWEAR!"

conrad had thrown her in.

"ah connie i think i hurt my ankle help me." she smirked at belly,
"okay okay" he said before being pulled right in. "LETTIE!" the two girls laughed.

this summer was gonna be hers. she could feel it.
