Jewel has the perfect life with the perfect family and friends. She was the most popular student in California and also one of the smartest.
Then it happened. She was woken up with a scream, then two minutes later was another scream. She walked toward her parent's room and saw both of her parents bloody on the ground. She called the police and moments later they arrived and investigated. She went to school and had to listen to everyone talking about the mornful morning.
She is now back to her house where the police have found out who killed her patents. It was her mother, who was on drugs, that murdered her father and committed suicide. She is now alone because she has no other relatives. She was put into a foster care system and the next day she was packing her stuff for the airplane flight to Richmond, Virginia and then a drive over to Bealton, Virginia.
Jewel was in the car when she saw a weird looking animal and when she asked the social worker what it was. She just laughed and said that was a cow. Jewel just stared at the cow. The car stopped and there was a sign that welcome her but she just ignored the sign and grabbed her bags to go inside and cry. That was when a woman came in, her name was Sally, but she insists that Jewel could call her Mrs. James. She told Jewel that Mr. James will be here in twenty minutes. Then she asked her when her birthday was and that was when Jewel started to cry, and during that sob session, Jewel said tomorrow.
