Sixteen years later, it was Sam's sixteenth birthday and he was ready to go out in the world and explore it. Over the years, the young prince grew just as it was foretold, strong, handsome, and intelligent. No matter what he would be pouring through many different types of books about the land, sometimes about nature, but his favorite was the law of the land. Sure, it was preposterous but at least he got a chance to learn more about the outside world. He was so engrossed with one of the books that he hadn't heard his bedroom door open. Dean stepped inside to find the sixteen-year-old reading over old books. Dean had also grown over the years and helped Rowena take care of Sam, now he was twenty and ready to take on any challenge to protect his best friend.

"Sammy, don't tell me you're looking through those books again!" Dean exclaimed and walked over to him. Sam jumped briefly and set the book down, trying not to give away too much about what he was doing. "It's your sixteenth birthday, shouldn't you be out there at least? Getting some fresh air?"

"De, you know how I feel about being called Sammy," Sam responded. "That's a stupid child's name, and besides it's not like there's anything going on out there. So let me read." Sam reached over to grab the book he was reading but Dean stepped forward and grabbed the book before Sam could even grab it. "Hey!"

"Sam, I think it's best that you go out there and collect some firewood." Dean ordered.

"But.."

"Kid, I'm not going to ask you again," Dean warned. Sighing, Sam didn't have much of a choice. "Now are you going to do it or not?"

"I will, do you mind if I get changed?" Sam got up from his bed and pushed Dean out of his room. Despite Dean's protests, Sam closed the door in his face. Groaning, Dean walked down the stairs rubbing his eyes, he set foot in the kitchen to find that Rowena was looking through cookbooks.

"You know, Dean, Sam does have a mind of his own." Rowena said, flipping through a cookbook.

"Yeah, I know," Dean answered. "But does he have to be so stubborn?"

"Probably gets it from his dad," she answered and flipped to a page with a large five-layered cake. "We need to make today special, after all, he's turning sixteen." Dean walked over to the counter and saw the cake that Rowena was looking at. The last time he checked, Rowena didn't do the cooking much. He always made dinner and helped to hunt some of the large game in the forest. Even taught Sam how to hunt.

"Please tell me you aren't trying to cook, again." Dean asked.

"I'm trying to make his birthday special and besides, since he'll go back to the king and queen, at least we can do something nice for him," Rowena answered. "Plus, I'm also going to make something made for a prince." Dean was looking through a sewing book even though he was only half-listening until eventually, he stumbled across what Rowena was looking through, when she saw that he wasn't listening she flicked him in the ear.

"Ow! Hey!" Dean exclaimed, "what was that for?" Dean rubbed his ear and frowned at Rowena.

"Honestly child, were you even listening to a word I said?" She asked.

"Um no?" Rowena sighed and rolled her eyes.

"Are you two arguing again?" Sam said as he was making his way downstairs. Quickly, Rowena and Dean slammed the books shut. Sam stepped downstairs dressed in a Bastian shirt and brown pants as well as black boots.

"No, but happy birthday Sammy!" Dean said.

"How about you go ahead and get some fresh air?" Rowena said and walked over to Sam. She grabbed his hooded cape and handed it to Sam before pushing him out the door. "Just go and collect some firewood, then come back." Sam huffed and walked away to collect the wood like he did every morning. Once Sam was far away she closed both doors and walked back over to the counter to open the books. "As for you Dean, shouldn't you go out there also and chop some of that wood we have?"
