Caleb woke up lying in a futuristic glass egg like he was sleeping beauty or something. Instead of his t-shirt and jeans, he wore a sci-fi jumpsuit with neon stripes on the sides.

Did someone change my clothes while I was unconscious? God help me! Caleb thought, panicking at the implication.

He was trapped in a dark room with metal siding. A door slid open and a tall man walked in, face obscured by a space helmet.

Caleb pounded his fists on the side of the glass cage. "Who are you and where have you taken me?" he screamed.

The man pressed a button on the side of his helmet and the glass front slid open, revealing his face. He was possibly the most handsome guy Caleb had ever met in person. He wasn't really his type, but he was still amazed by how much he looked like a movie star. He was pretty—too pretty even—beautiful even. Caleb didn't think he'd ever date a guy that was prettier than him, which might sound selfish but whatever. It didn't matter anyway because this guy had kidnapped him!

"My name is Donovan Pate," the man said. His lips curved up in a smile, accentuating his chiseled jawline and beard stubble. His biceps rippled underneath his skin-tight jumpsuit. "Welcome to Evergreen Cove. We've all been so eager to meet you."

No! How could this have happened? This is the last thing Caleb ever could have predicted.

"You have to let me go! I have college tomorrow," he lied. It was the middle of summer and he had no responsibilities.

"You aren't going anywhere," Donovan growled. "It's time you learned your lesson once and for all."

"I didn't do anything to you!" Caleb pleaded.

Donovan pulled out his phone and typed something. He showed the screen to Caleb, who was greeted with a youtube thumbnail of him holding up "Rescuing the Bad Boy" with a grimace on his face. It was his first-ever bad boy video.

"What do you call this?" Donovan asked. "You spent almost an hour making fun of my traumatic backstory." He scrubbed through the video and hit play.

Caleb listened to himself laughing over Donovan's hot wheels with a sinking feeling in his stomach. He didn't know what to say when confronted with the poorly-written cliche character in real life.

Donovan waited for Caleb to explain himself. He sighed when no response came. "The other bad boys and I are sick and tired of your mockery, Caleb. That's why we brought you here. It's time for your punishment."

"You can't keep me here!" Caleb shrieked. He pummeled the glass cage with his fists once more.

"Oh, we can," Donovan smirked. He held up his phone once more, but instead of a youtube video, it showed a black-and-white live feed... of Caleb's dog, Wally! Wally was tied up to a chair with a gag in his mouth, preventing him from barking. Another dog, who Caleb recognized as Gertie, held a knife to Wally's throat and glared menacingly at the camera.

"If you don't cooperate with us, your precious pup will get it."

Caleb stopped flailing about instantly. Wally's eyes were scared and filled with tears. He was a dog, so he couldn't understand why anyone would do this. He must be so scared without Caleb there to protect him. Caleb would have to be strong for Wally.

"I'll do anything you want," Caleb said. "Just don't hurt him."

Donovan nodded and approached the glass cage. In one hand, he held a sharp, gleaming KNIFE.
