Hawkins, Indiana: 1984

Bonnie started her day like any other. She woke up at 6:30 am to get ready for school at 7:30 am. Just like she did the day before ... and the day before that ... and the day before that one.

This day feels strange ... Why does it feel strange? Why does it not feel like a regular Friday morning? The girl said to herself as she began to make her way to the bathroom.

"You're alright. Just breathe, it's FINE!" She whispered before she knocked on the restroom door.

"Just a minute!" echoed the soft voice of her younger brother, Will, from the inside. "UGH HURRY UP PLEASE! A girl needs her time in the mornings, Will! You know this." Bonnie shouted with a slightly annoyed tone as began to bang on the door louder. "Okay, okay. I'm hurrying," Will replied.

The boy opened the door. "It's all yours," he said with a smile. "Thanks, kid." Bonnie said while patting the boy's head and leading him out.

"Finally," Bonnie sighed as she began to spill out her cosmetics bag and start her makeup routine. As she held up the black eyeliner pencil to her right eye, she heard a knock on the door. Startled, Bonnie had accidentally glided the pencil across her face and shouted "WHAT!" "Uhh... can I get in there for a second?" said the voice of her older brother Jonathan. "Uhh ... No! I'm doing makeup" Bonnie mocked while wiping the smudge away. "I need to pee though!" the boy shouted. "Well I guess you're gonna have to wait." Bonnie said while laughing. "Oh, come on Bonnie! Why can't you just do your makeup in your room?" Jonathan had questioned. " 'Cause I like the lighting in here better." Bonnie joked. "Whatever. I'm peeing outside." Jonathan said while walking away. "Gross." Bonnie said while working on her eyeliner.

After finishing her hair and makeup, Bonnie began to search for an outfit. "Hmm. This'll do." she said while picking up a tight fitting black dress and fishnets that she paired with large black combat boots.

The girl walked to her dresser to pick up her chunky black, spiked bracelet she always wore on her left hand. She completed the outfit with a red rosary and thick silver cross earrings.

*HONK!* Bonnie heard from her brother's car outside. "LET'S GO!" a muffled voice shouted. "SHIT!" Bonnie said quietly as she rushed to get her book bag. She took one last look in the full length mirror in her room before running out the door. "Good enough." she said lightly.

"HEY! That's my spot!" Bonnie said to the young boy seated in the passenger side. "Shoulda got out here sooner" Will replied jokingly. Jonathan laughed but the girl just rolled her eyes as she hopped in the backseat. "Jokes on you, I like the backseat too." Bonnie said trying to play off the fact that her 12 year old brother had taken her spot causing Will to let out a laugh. This made Bonnie smile. It's rare to see Will like this, especially after everything that's happened, but it looks like he's getting better now- hopefully.

"Do you think that, I don't know I'm just throwing this out there, MAYBE if you woke up just a liiiiitle earlier we wouldn't be rushing to get to school everyday?" Jonathan asked the girl. "Maybe. But I'm still not gonna do it." Bonnie replied smartly with a grin. "Besides," Bonnie continued, "you take too long shitting, or whatever it is you do in there for 20 minutes every morning- so it wouldn't matter whether or not I woke up any earlier." "HEY, HEY, HEY!" Jonathan shouted, snapping his fingers at the girl. "What?!" the girl questioned while laughing. "Will's in here! You- you can't just say stuff like that, Bonnie come on! We talked about watching our language around him, remember?" Jonathan exclaimed with a defeated tone of voice. "It's not like the little booger doesn't hear it everyday of his life ... Look at him! He's laughing!" Bonnie said through chuckles. "Hey! Don't laugh at what she says, she isn't funny!" Jonathan said, embarrassed by his siblings. "She kinda is!" Will replied trying to conceal his laughter. "Oh, not you too... You know what? Forget both of you! You BOTH can find new rides home." Jonathan joked while shaking his head. "Look, all I'm saying is that it takes me a lot longer than you guys to get ready. Like, HELLO ?! I'm a girl! I need my time in the morning. And, I mean, really, how long can it possibly take to style those bowl cuts?" Bonnie teased. "Ha ha ha" Will said sarcastically, a bit offended by Bonnie's statement. "See? not so funny now, is she?" Jonathan said giving Will a slight nudge.
