Marcys last gaming session was suddenly interrupted by a loud ring throughout the school which had startled her. Everyone around her had started to flee the classroom like desperate puppies wanting a treat. She wasn't too excited because she knew she wasn't going anywhere. So she just got comfy in the classroom while putting her games away, waiting for the detention teacher to come inside the classroom. She tried to pull out her phone to text Anne but heard footsteps near the doorway and sighed before putting the phone back in her pocket. "Stupid detention." Marcy said under her breath while rolling her eyes.

The teacher then walked into the room.

"Good afternoon Marcy, I expect no fooling around. Just make it easier for both of us and cause no problems." Marcy's teacher had said.

Marcy nodded willingly knowing she didn't have much of a choice here. She sat at her desk, far in the back. The teacher seemed distracted grading assignments so she sneakily pulled out her phone and upon her vision saw that it had already been about 20 minutes. 'Oh no, what if Anne thinks I stood her up.' Marcy thought in her head, disappointed she had gotten stuck here.

She pulled up her texts with Anne to see many missed texts. About 12 to be exact. Her heart sank to see how upset Anne was.

"Hey Marcy, where are you?" - 3:04 pm.

"Are you still coming?" - 3:12 pm

I'm getting a little worried. Did I do something? - 3:18 pm." Marcy scanned over the texts reading them, there were many more along with those ones.

"No, no! I got stuck in detention. I'm so sorry for not telling you." Marcy replied.

No answer. She started at her phone for a few minutes hoping for an answer. When there was nothing she just put the phone back in her pocket.

It was about 3:40 now, only 20 more minutes till detention was done. Marcy was counting down the minutes, panicking Anne was upset.

'Does she not believe me? Why isn't she answering my texts?' Marcy thought worriedly.

Many more thoughts crossed Marcys mind, like cows grazing an open field. But she was swiftly snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of her teacher.

"You are allowed to leave now Marcy." He had said gesturing to the door.

"Oh okay, thanks sir." Marcy said, packing up her bag.

Marcy slowly walked out the classroom then picked up her pace walking down the halls and out the door with her bag.

She looked across the street quickly and saw no cars so she then ran across the street, the clumsy girl almost tripped once again but caught herself.

She suddenly stopped to take a breath and then continued going to Anne's house.

Once she was in the Boonchuys driveway she took a moment to prepare herself, she had no idea if Anne would even want her at her house still. Anne was forgiving though and would most likely understand, but guilt still built up in her.

Marcy stood on the porch hoping for the best before lightly knocking.
