Mhae Lee Aquino known as Mhae Lee is an American singer and actress. She made her Broadway debut as young Éponine in Les Misérables and has since appeared in other Broadway productions. She had her breakthrough starring as Heather Henderson in the Netflix series Stranger Things (2016-present). In 2018, Mhae made her debut as a solo artist with the single "Solo". The song was commercially successful topping Billboard's World Digital Songs Chart.

Early Life

Mhae Lee was born in Dallas, Texas on September 23, 1999 as an only child. Born from a Filipino mother and a Korean father, Mhae Lee can speak Tagalog and Korean, as well as English. Her parents divorced when she was 5 years old and she took on her mother's maiden name when she turned 18.

Career

In 2012, she debuted on Broadway as Les Misérables' young Éponine at the age of 12. In 2014, she exited the Off-Broadway production of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, where she originated the role of Annabeth Chase, to start filming for the first season of Stranger Things. In 2016, she officially made her debut as Heather Henderson.

Mhae Lee's performance in the Stranger Things season 4 episode "Chapter Nine: The Piggyback" received critical praise.

In mid-October 2018, an announcement of Mhae Lee's official solo debut was made. "Solo" topped the Billboard's World Digital Songs chart. It was also featured in the New York Times' playlist. In April 2019, she performed at Coachella for the first time and her performance was included in "The 10 Best Things We Saw at Coachella 2019" list by Billboard, which called it "mind-blowing" and "stunning" for fans and casual passersby.
