2. First Night

Chaewon drags you into the corridor and hastily starts questioning you - "Have you already found some poor guy to hook up with? I mean he is kind of hot so I can't blame you.. But what about your professor crush! When did this happen? Why didn't you tell me? You didn't message me when you got back either so I ended up making things awkward!!" she rambled, before stopping to pout at you.

You grab her by the shoulders to make her look in your eyes as you attempt to explain. "Firstly I'm sorry I made you worry, but I SWEAR he isn't a hook up - he's my roommate and I only just found out. He scared me absolutely shitless."

"But your roommate is meant to be a girl-"

"I know, I know," you interrupt before she goes on one of her monologues again, "but I don't think there's anything I can really do about it right now.. I mean reception is closed this time of night so whatever the case I'll have to deal with it for at least tonight. It'll be fine though, you can go back to your room and get some rest! I'll message you about the situation later, okay?"

She reluctantly agreed and hugged you tightly before turning away and waving at you as she walked towards the stairs. You mentally prepare yourself and head back into your room, not particularly looking forward to getting to know this guy. Sitting on your bed, you look over to him and notice he's on his phone in a completely different world. He didn't really look like the quiet type but looks can be deceiving. This puts it on you to attempt to make this less weird.

"Hey I know it's probably a bit weird but can we do like.. A little introduction to each other since we're apparently sharing a room together? I can go first if you'd like?" you ask nervously; he puts his phone down and nods in agreement.

"Okay," You inhale slowly and adjust yourself before speaking, "My name's Ahn Sora, I'm 18, and I'm studying architecture - what about you?"

"I'm Jeon Wonwoo, I'm 19, and I'm here to study engineering.."

"You're 19? Did you take a gap year?"

"Ah - yeah I did.. I wanted to work in the real world for a bit before going back into education, and saving some money didn't hurt"

There were a couple more moments of silence before you realised - "Wait - if you're doing engineering why weren't you in the first lecture? Both of our courses do that module."

His shoulders seemed to stiffen up a bit before he regained his composure. "The past month has been.. Hectic, let's say. I don't want to get into it too much but I had to change dorms at the very last minute which is probably why this situation has happened. I came to get my keys two days ago and moved in today so I had to let the lecturer know.. Speaking of, if you've done that lecture could I take a look at your notes?"

Your eyes go wide for a second as you try to find a reason to say no. Those notes were definitely not coherent and were covered in little heart doodles and mindless writing about how pretty the professor was. Unfortunately, your brain failed you - you had no choice but to let him. "Yeah sure! But could I give them to you before I head out tomorrow? It's getting late and I don't want to have to rifle through my bag for them." At the very least you didn't want to have to watch as he read them. He agreed as he had planned to head to bed just before you'd gotten back so before too long you both decided to turn your lights off and get some rest.

"Hey," you whispered, "are you still awake?"

"Yeah, why?" he replied in a similarly hushed tone, though his voice sounded much more rough, especially when he spoke quietly.

"What time are you getting up tomorrow? I don't want to be an inconvenience and wake you up or anything and I haven't got any lectures until the afternoon but if you do I can get up a bit earlier to give you my notes and run some errands in the morning."
