„YOU WHAT?!" Crystal shouted, now struggling to concentrate on driving. Liz shrunk in her seat, startled by her friends reaction and her eyes glued on the windshield. She savvied, that saying things like this directly hadn't been a good idea.

„Okay I want to know HOW and WHEN!" Crystal demanded loudly.

„I think that was a red light.." „NOW Liz!",the younger one was interrupted.

„Alright fine.." She gave in and told her the whole story. How she and Sophie went to the pub, right after their last class, how the mysterious man and the suspicious woman came, when she was in the bathroom and she even told her how her text message rescued her during the fight in the darkness.

„...and before I left Sophie, I found this picture next to our table." She finished her talk and pulled the picture the man gave Sophie out of her pocket. After a long pause she turned to Crystal, who hadn't said a word, while Liz had spoken. Her mien had turned more and more into a poker face and her only expressions had been her narrowing her eyes from time to time. Now both of them sat in silent in the car, Liz was to afraid to say a word. Crystal was the only person on this planet, she sometimes was scared of, wich made the answer that came from her even more relieving.

„Why didn't you just use Siri?" The older one said with a smirk and finally looked at Liz, who face palmed and responded in a sarcastic tone.

„Right, how couldn't I think of that! I culd have just yelled hey siri and my old phone would have lit up wayy faster than the man would have found me." Now she was the one, who grinned and turned back to the window. Both of them of course couldn't use things like Siri, Alexa, or google assistant, since they were basically bugging systems, they were carrying around daily and everywhere.

„Where are we driving by the way?" She asked after a while, when she noticed the surroundings becoming more suburban.

„Oh we're nearly there, I thought we could stay at my house for the rest of the day-"

„YOU OWN A HOUSE?" Liz bawled louder than she wanted."In DC?!"

„Yes, shield pays better than you'd expect." Crystal answered calmly and pulled into a drive way of a small state house. „And because I didn't leave to university this was pretty afordable. But I mean, you went to medical school, that also must have been expensive."

Liz closed her mouth that dropped open in awe, just to open it again for a chuckle. „You think I payed for university? Crystal, I was in germany. Medical school is. For. Free. " She opened the cardoor and took her bag outside. „Still, all I have is 900$ on my bank account and a place in a flat share."

„Wait what?" Crystal had followed her out of the car and was now walking up with her to the front door. „No offense, but I know you're very lazy when it comes to applications and if not over money, how did you get youre place then?" Now her friend started lauging again. She confused saerched for her keys, while liz still recovered, from her last chuckle.

„See- I mean- Do you remember the mission I practically died on?"

„Well you gotta be more specific than that." She answered having flashbacks to multiple bad missions they had a few years ago. „Wich one?"

„Oh you know the one with Clint and the starks daughter."

Crystal nodded hesitantly and then raised and raised eyebrow when Liz kept grinning.

„See when you hand in your death certificate together with your application, it brings a bit more weight to the quote; „I would die for this job""

„Liz!"Crystal sculted her with an accusing look. „You did not."

„No I didn't.", She admitted, „I for once sat down and wrote a full CV and application letter being a nurse until you're 14 and a first aid attendend for five other years, really helps for your qualification."

She finally found the key and opened the door, immediately making her way upstairs, after telling her guest to just look around a bit.
