Pretty color...drawings...snow

You giggled as you ran your fingers through his now white hair again and he smiled.

"What's so funny?" You giggled again as you pulled a hair out, frowning as he flinched.

"Snow..." You mumbled as you dropped the hair to the ground. He ran his own fingers through his hair and you quickly snagged his wrist, tracing the drawing.

"Yeah, that's true. I guess it is like snow." You nodded and looked up into his eyes, moving to trace your fingers along his facial features. He closed his eyes and sighed.

"Pretty boy..." You whispered. He opened his eyes and slowly reached out to touch your cheek gently.

"Pretty girl." He whispered back. A nurse walked in soon after, turning to the boy and ignoring you. You looked down at the table full of my drawings that you had given to him today. You picked up a handful of crayons and set another blank piece of paper in front of you before you began scribbling.

Purple...

"We think we figured out..."

I like yellow...

"Of course it'll take time..."

Brown...his eyes are pretty...

"Extreme Dissociative Fugue..." You stopped, looking up to see the nurse and him both watching you and you smiled, holding up your picture. He gave a small smile before nodding.

"Very pretty. Can you tell me about it?" You shook your head, setting it in his lap before you began mindlessly playing with the sleeve of his shirt.

"So what's next..."

Buttons...dress shirt...dress...shirt...

And suddenly you weren't there with him anymore.

A dark room, brick walls, no light anywhere. I moved my leg, hearing a sound, like a chain. I gripped the chain, following it until I felt the wall, slowly standing up and fighting the dizziness that was causing my head to spin.

"Hello?!" I cried out. A mixture of a groaning and screeching noise came from behind me and I spun to see a large metal door opening, a man I had never seen before standing in the doorway. He was dressed in almost a suit, missing the jacket but had the dress shirt and pants at least, his hair seemed put together.

"Who are...what am I...what is this?!" I said, panicking. He didn't answer, simply walking towards me and moving to rest his hand on my cheek. I flinched and backed away against the wall. He raised his hand, snapping once before striking me across the face and knocking me to the floor.

"Rule 1. You will not move when I touch you." He turned and walked back to the doorway.

"Wait! Wait, I'm sorry!! Please don't leave me down here!! Please let me go, let me out!!" I cried out. He ignored me, closing the door behind him.

Darkness.

You came to, rocking back and forth on the floor, a nurse dabbing your head with a cloth. You quickly moved away from her, lunging towards him. He quickly opened his arms to catch you, holding you closely to his chest.

Safe...he's safe...smells safe...is safe...sweet...

You clutched his shirt tightly, finally noticing the sweat that was beaded across your forehead, the tears streaming down your face.

"Nononono...dark...no dark." He was stroking your cheek gently, shushing you and rocking you from side to side. He began humming quietly and kissed the top of your head.

"No dark. I got you. It's me, it's okay." He whispered. You looked up at him.

"Name...no name..." He looked down at you for a moment before giving you a gentle smile.

"Daniel. You can call me Danny. What's yours?" You shook your head.

Safe...but not yet...good boy...not yet

He smiled and loosened his grip a little, causing you to tighten yours.

"No...please...sorry...Bree...Bree!" You cried out your name and he stopped, his facial expression turning into one of shock.

"You...you didn't have to tell me...I appreciate that you did, I just...I wasn't going to let you go." He said quietly. He glanced up as the nurse walked away before quickly turning back to you.

"Jus...please..." You whimpered as you rested your head on his chest, curling up in his lap. You both stayed there for a while, him simply rubbing your back and humming as your breathing slowly evened out.

Danny looked down to see you asleep. He carefully rearranged you both as he slowly stood up. The nurses had been going on about how nervous they were about her weight. Her medications caused her to lose her appetite though.

Extreme Dissociative Fugue..? He was going to have to do some research.

Safe...She kept saying he was safe, yet she still seemed scared of him sometimes. As he laid her down in her bed, he sat down in the chair across the room, pulling his phone out of his pocket.

A: How much longer are you gonna be there? And what's your fascination with this girl?

D: idk...just think she needs someone. I really don't think I can leave her alone anymore. And I won't be much longer. Visiting hours are almost over.

A: okay well we're going out tonight. You down?

D: eh...idk maybe. I'll see how I feel when I get home.

A: alright lmk.

D: will do.

As he scrolled on his phone for about a half an hour, you began to stir. Suddenly you realized you weren't sitting in his arms and quickly sat up, your eyes filling with tears as they darted around the room.

Gone...gone...alone...scary...

"Hey...hey shh...it's okay I'm right here." You heard him say. Your eyes met his as he stood up, slowly taking a few steps towards you. You launched yourself off the bed, running into his open arms.

You wrapped your arms around his waist, burying your face into his chest again and taking a deep breath, relaxing at his calming and familiar scent.

Safe...

Danny kissed the top of your head again before staring off into space.

I can't leave her...I can never let her be alone again. She needs me...
