Several weeks passed and Loki tried to grow accustomed to life in New Asgard. He cleaned up the house and made it less of a pigsty. The people started to get used to seeing Loki walk around everyday, although no one ever engaged him in conversation. But this was preferable to Loki. If anyone had attempted to talk to him he would not have known what to say.

One particular afternoon, as Loki was walking he passed by a small hardware store. He glanced in the window and saw Jane along with the girl who had shown him to New Asgard. The girl happened to look up and see Loki who promptly started walking again, faster than before. Within a matter of seconds however he heard the bell from the door ring and someone calling his name.

"Hey, Loki!" He recognized the voice of the girl.

Loki paused for a moment and sighed before turning around and acting surprised, "Oh hello!" he said awkwardly, "I did not see you there," Loki inwardly cringed at himself.

"Are you sure about that?" The girl laughed, "You were walking pretty fast for not having seen me."

"It's called power-walking. I just learned about it, apparently it's supposed to be great for your health," Loki confused himself with his own words.

The girl nodded, obviously not believing a word of what Loki was saying, "Right," she said sarcastically, "So how are things going for you? I mean you seemed pretty shocked and, well, honestly, disoriented when I saw you last."

"I was not!" Loki said defensively.

The girl put her hands up, "Okay, okay."

"Nicole!" a voice from behind her called. It was a man with blond hair and stone-gray eyes, "I've been looking everywhere for you!"

"Well, I've been here," she chuckled, "Oh, Loki, this is my boyfriend, Brodie."

Brodie nodded briefly to Loki, seeming entirely disinterested, "Babe, I need five bucks."

"What on earth for?" Nicole asked.

"Why does it matter?" Brodie asked in an annoyed tone.

Nicole sighed, "Okay," she took out her wallet and reluctantly gave him the money.

"Thanks, Babe!" Brodie gave her a quick peck on the cheek before running off to his bros who were waiting for him.

"I don't like him," Loki said in a decisive tone, once Brodie was out of earshot.

Nicole shrugged her shoulders then smirked, "He's not going to like me very much when he realizes I gave him the wrong currency."

Loki chuckled, "I never would have guessed that you had such a mischievous side."

"I've got an ace or two up my sleeve," Nicole said with a smile.

"Well, alright then, Ace," Loki chuckled again. "I'll be sure never to cross you." The two talked for a little while longer until Jane came out of the store.

As Loki walked back to the house, he smiled to himself. No one had ever made him smile like that before.
